spritzer Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 The Mk2's have one Pro and one Normal bias outputs.
dyna10x Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Thanks spritzer. Now I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask, does anyone have a sr lambda + energizer/amplifier in good condition they want to sell?
spritzer Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 The SR-Lambda is in high demand and short supply so probably not.
padam Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I still think that it is not so rare. To prove it, there is actually one with a nice amp right here, you just have to outbid the rest who want it as well
spritzer Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 There plenty of them made but they aren't everywhere like L-Pro's. In other news, I bought a SR-404 today so I feel a Sigma modding session happening soon...
padam Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Pity you don't have a clone as you could do it simultaneously with the Pro that I just got - just joking
mypasswordis Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Ooh, very nice score! I definitely need to hear a Sigma Pro or Sigma/404 someday.
spritzer Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I never quite warmed up to the Sigma Pro to be honest. Simply the wrong drivers for this role. The SR-Sigma and 404 on the other hand...
cetoole Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I wasnt a fan of the sigma pro at CanJam, sounded really weird.
padam Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I am too sober now to make a picture of wearing it(the vintage colour does add a bit of extra cheerfulness compared to the NB version), but it may pop up elsewhere later on I think it actually sounds better than the two NB Sigmas I had, although I was able to test it on a better amp which only had a Pro bias connector. I am definitely interested in a conversion, although the Pro might be less worthy to sacrifice as it is much rarer
dyna10x Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I still think that it is not so rare. To prove it, there is actually one with a nice amp right here, you just have to outbid the rest who want it as well Thanks for the heads up on that sweet combo padam. I just won my first auction. Looks like I will be upgrading from my SRD84. Cant wait to sample the delights of a good electrostatic.
padam Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 You made a very good deal there, congrats.
Beefy Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 That's not bad and kudos for getting through to them. Most aren't so fortunate... I actually sent a follow-up email to Yamas to ask for more prices, and didn't get a reply for a few days. But today, I actually got a phonecall at work (my number is in my email sig) from 'Tats', confirming the extra parts I wanted, discussing my Lambda's, and him recommending against my trying to replace dust covers due to the high chance of failure. I think the difference was that I actually sent my original email to the service department, 'Accutech' rather than the generic Yamas email address. They might butcher a pair of phones every now and again, but seem to be genuinely interested in helping people
spritzer Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 It's more the amps that they haven't been so good at repairing but even Stax Japan makes some blunders like my SR-Omega/007 hybrid. Easy to fix though...
Hopstretch Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Well, I'm in. How come no one ever talks about these? They're OK!
mypasswordis Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 How come no one ever talks about these? Congrats.
The Monkey Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Well, I'm in. How come no one ever talks about these? They're OK! Pics or ban.
dcpoor Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Well, I'm in. How come no one ever talks about these? They're OK! grats!
spritzer Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Pics or ban. Ditto! Take pics of the earpads so that we can see what condition they are in. We want this set to be running at 100%.
Hopstretch Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 I'm no expert on O2s, but they seem distinctly minty to me. One tiny mark on one ear cup, that's it.
Deadneddz Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Very nice Stretch. They look to be in great condition. Hopefully the pads are still somewhat firm. Just be sure to keep the cable as twist free as possible. Its probably the only physical weakness on an otherwise bullet proof phone thats marvelously constructed.
Hopstretch Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Will do. One question -- on a hanger, hang from headband or arc assembly?
The Monkey Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Either. But I prefer hanging by the arc assembly.
spritzer Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 I'd say those were mint and the pads look to be in perfect condition too. The cable is indeed the only known place where they do fail and it is something which Stax took care of with the Mk2. Using them with an extension cable will increase it's life by giving it ample slack. I always hang mine for the headband on a Stax stand and after 7 years (fuck that's a long time ) the elastic band is just like new.
