Duggeh Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Would you build them inside bread baking tins so they smell nice when they warm up?
spritzer Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 As it happens I have a huge pile of baking forms that will never be used...
guzziguy Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Maybe you could sell them to SARN for use as cases?
spritzer Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 They are practically bullet proof so great for anybody buying from them.
HeadphoneAddict Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Sherwood, were you as impressed with the SR-404 limited anniversary edition with leather earpads at the recent meet as I was? They sounded quite good on the GES, with very little etch if any.
Sherwood Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Sherwood, were you as impressed with the SR-404 limited anniversary edition with leather earpads at the recent meet as I was? They sounded quite good on the GES, with very little etch if any. Absolutely, I was. I'd need to give it a really proper listen before real assessment, and preferably that would not be at a meet, but it's about the best I've ever heard the lambda frame sound. It was certainly good enough to have me scrimping and saving for a pair to replace my beloved SRs.
padam Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I ask it again: anybody interested in a group buy for that?
Sherwood Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I placed a call to the US distributor on them this morning, but got no answer. I'm solid in for that.
spritzer Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Is there a source for SR-404Ltd pads? I've already had Craig check on it for me couple of months back and they were having some supply issues which might have been cleared up now. I do know that the Limited pads are a part of the spare part lineup...
Sherwood Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Man, they're awfully nice. I'll call yama's again today
digger945 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Hell yeah, the Lambda Sig/SRM-T1S combo I had at some point was awesome and definitely a deal at a little bit less than 1000$. I'd go as far as saying it beat the O2 in terms of openness and air, but with that said, the O2 is better in everything else IMO. Still, I'd take the Sig or some Lambda variation over any dynamic headphone I've heard without even thinking. How about an SRM-T1W for starters. I have found one for $750 shipped and would be content to wait for a pair of phones to go with later. Will probably do a KGSS myself eventually.
padam Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 It should sound the same as the SRM-T1S. And since that particular amp was packed with an SR-Omega which was made by old Stax, there should be no cost-cutting involved.
digger945 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 As I have read spritzer say about the earlier version. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f42/fs-stax-srm-t1w-electrostatic-tube-headphone-amp-balanced-preamp-433036/, maybe a mistake but , there it is. insomniac, never seen him online waiting for someone to reply. I think he maybe bit on Dreadhead's KGSS.
spritzer Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 The T1W is identical to the other T1 amps except for the extra switching involved with a passive preamp. I do prefer the older T1 over all but the difference is minimal at best.
digger945 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 There is a 007tII and 007ta also, seems like everyone is in the mood to upgrade to the KGSS/KGBH. Maybe I'm wasting my time here with Stax. I could buy a lot of parts with a grand.
spritzer Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 There are a lot of Stax amps for sale over there now... \
Hopstretch Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 There is a 007tII also, seems like everyone is in the mood to upgrade to the KGSS/KGBH. It's funny how no one ever uses their amps. Pristine! Hardly burned in!
padam Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 The 007t's main 'problem' is called 717 I guess.
digger945 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I understand I need to do a bit more reading, just hate to pass up a good deal on what appears to be some newer amps. Could be listening while I am reading.
spritzer Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Think of it this way, if you've never heard the better amps then you don't know what you are missing.
digger945 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 The problem with that is I now have a bit of KG fever from my dynamic experience.
