JBLoudG20 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Congrats Dan. Its been a long time coming!
grawk Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 Seems pretty good so far. I'm happy.
Nanoha Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Oh my, I have to say that faceplate was done nicely. To bad that casing problem was a disaster. Hopefully it all turns out well! Yays and congrats.

deepak Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Two years, that's simply madness. I assume that's when the M3 was announced?
grawk Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 No, it was when sft and thrice started talking about balanced m3s
JBLoudG20 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 madness?! this is SPA... well, you get the idea. Ugh that is exactly where my brain went as well.
n_maher Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Congrats man, I'm glad it finally all worked out. And even with the beta22 out the M3 is no slouch. Technically speaking it has superior specifications in several categories and is way overkill for headphones. Certainly nothing to be scoffed at.
darkless Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Congrats grawk. How many Watts can it push to the speakers?
grawk Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 Congrats grawk. How many Watts can it push to the speakers? I think 7, but I'm not sure. Effectively doubled because it's balanced drive tho
MexicanDragon Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 It should have been pink... I bet it doesn't sound very fuzzy... **BRENT**
n_maher Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 I think 7, but I'm not sure. Effectively doubled because it's balanced drive tho Depends on what you're running for opamps and your power supply. 7 or 8W sounds about right though unless you really tweaked it for speaker use.
grawk Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 So I just spent the last few hours listening to my hhf1s on this amp. Some Diana Krall live followed by Stan Getz - Jazz Samba. Chain was airport express->Luxman D112 integrated amp acting as a dac->rca tape loop out to the balanced m3 (transformer balanced inputs)->hhf1. There was no delay, everything got out of the way, and I was just absorbed by the music. This is such a spectactular combination. I will have to pair it up with the apogee at some point, but wow. Now I just need a comfortable way to sleep with the grados on
