crappyjones123 Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 CANOR-AUDIO.COM : Headphone tube amplifier SH1 : Tube amplifier & high end audio found this while following random integrated amp links. any thoughts? construction looks clean. worth the $550 they charge for it? Quote
aerius Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Hey guys, guys. Let's take a 12AX7 cause we like, need a tube or something, and use it as a cathode follower for absolutely no reason at all. Then let's get a shitty obsolete op-amp chip and run the signal through them before feeding it to the output stage, which is probably as shitty as the rest of the amp. Quote

n_maher Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 don't forget to include as many diodes as you can I was thinking those were somehow to develop a B+ for the tube ala Stax bias? Quote
spritzer Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 That's one way to do it but voltage multipliers don't like a load... at all. Quote
crappyjones123 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 so the amp sucks then...? Quote
Hopstretch Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 so the amp sucks then...? Sucks right now, too. Quote
Fitz Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 And will probably still suck tomorrow. Quote
crappyjones123 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 with what probability? Quote
swt61 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 What a waste of a nice piece of wood! Quote
spritzer Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I'd say it's even better than 6N. Holy crap, the mythical 7N? Say it ain't so!?!?!?! Quote
aerius Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I think Esoteric is up to 8N these days. Quote
