faust3d Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 I've been thinking about how to go about this. I shouldn't have a problem with making it but firing it is another story. Ceramics don't like to be rigid. When you roll out a slab the way in which the platelets compress together causes them to want to warp in the firing process. I'll definitely try it but if it turns out wonky I'll send you a picture and if you don't want it, I won't take it personally at all. I'm really doing this because I need to practice my technique and figured I could make some stuff that people might want and won't just go in the garbage when I'm done. Do you happen to know if a template can be found for each plane? That sure would make it easier. I can look around for the templates, but I does not have to be composed of separate slabs I guess, juts look kinda like this so I just making ridges or cutting a way strips of clay in a round head might work I am just speculating, my ceramic class was like 15 years ago in college and all I made was two pots
laxx Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 I'll pass. I think it'll freak me out too much looking at it. But if you could make one of say... Optimus Prime, I'd for sure sign up, lol. Or any Transformer that is.
grawk Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 I'd be interested in a head-case keg tap pull handle
aardvark baguette Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 What about one that looks like the headcase logo? That would be bitchin.
Chekhonte Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 I'd be interested in a head-case keg tap pull handle I can do that but I'll need a threaded bolt (the part that would screw onto your tap) that I can epoxy into it. There's no way to create a working thread with the ceramics I use.
manaox2 Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 I'd be interested in a head-case keg tap pull handle You do know that its going to be a screw-on dildo with a head-case logo right?
Chekhonte Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 You do know that its going to be a screw-on dildo with a head-case logo right? Of course it's tempting but I'll make a more traditional one.
Wmcmanus Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 What you want is something like this. Head O State Obama Sex Toy Can we skip the dildo thing and maybe make something with a pair of tits on it instead?
Chekhonte Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 I can mount a flesh-light in one if you'd like.
mypasswordis Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 I can mount a flesh-light in one if you'd like. Now to decide if it should be in the eyes or the ears... Can we skip the dildo thing and maybe make something with a pair of tits on it instead? I'm thinking they might turn out long and a bit... phallic.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Aren't all keg-pulls somewhat phallic/dildo-like? I'm pretty sure I've seen that in a video. Girls (And Beer) Gone Wild or something.
swt61 Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Now to decide if it should be in the eyes or the ears... Well then, this could actually give credibility to the 'eargasm' terminology debate.
Chekhonte Posted December 16, 2009 Author Report Posted December 16, 2009 The thread size is 3/8-16 I have to assume that keg screws are universal right? I'm not all that familiar with screw size and thread size. I could however make sure by testing it out at my works kegs.
grawk Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 That's the standard size for us keg pulls. I didn't actually measure mine, I just googled it.
screaming oranges Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 It'd be awesome to do two separate pieces, akin to the two squares above. Head wears one pair, hand holds another. Don't really care much for a full bust like shown in the bottom half. This must be ridiculously difficult though. =(
mypasswordis Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Well then, this could actually give credibility to the 'eargasm' terminology debate. It definitely would if Fleshlights could.. uh... 'gasm.
Chekhonte Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 I haven't updated this in a while since school started and I've been busy as all hell. The stands are well on their way but haven't gone through the first firing yet. I'm waiting until I have a full kiln load and will fire them all together. They're coming along nicely, I spent the last part of winter break study faces and they're coming out a little more resolved. I can't say when they'll be finished and ready to ship but probably in a month or two. If anybody decides to back out, I won't be offended. I would have made something anyway and these projects to me are just to improve my skills.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 On the contrary, even though I'm (relatively) silent (on the subject), I remain interested -- thanks for the update! No rush, school comes first and all that.

manaox2 Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Thanks for doing this, no matter what you say, its very kind of you.
swt61 Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 I'm excited about these stands as well, and my offer to trade you a custom wooden stand still holds.
