JBLoudG20 Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 It's real simple, that thread was locked because we do not want headcase to turn into a place that is used soley for the purpose of bitching about head-fi and its members. That thread was leading heacase down that path and I won't let it happen. Also you may have noticed an increase in the number of informative threads since that thread was locked. Coincidence? I don't think so. I completely understand that logic, however, it was stated that the thread was closed because 'it was annoying'. I do agree that there have been more informative posts, but I do think it is coincidence. One cannot make scientifically correct statements based upon one incident. The only point I am making here, is that now censorship is existent in this forum, which is one of the main gripes about the other forum, and assumedly one reason why this forum was created (I'm not actually making statements about motive to create this forum, jut observations). I'm not trying to start a shittossing escapade, just voicing an opinion.
grawk Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 If you want to call editorial decisions about what this place is about censorship, feel free. This is a forum for people that like high end headphones, and when things get out of hand, we'll step in. No one had a word deleted, no one's been banned. But enough with the whining, take it to myspace.
JBLoudG20 Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 When the other option is that we'll start locking bitch threads because they're fucking annoying cen‧sor /ˈsɛnsər/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[sen-ser] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation ?noun 1. an official who examines books, plays, news reports, motion pictures, radio and television programs, letters, cablegrams, etc., for the purpose of suppressing parts deemed objectionable on moral, political, military, or other grounds. Yeah that's pretty much what I call censorship. I'm not on myspace, smartass.
aerius Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 I'm siding with tkam and Grawk on the "censorship" issue. If you want to argue semantics and technicalities, yes, locking a thread is censorship. Fine, big fucking deal. I admit like ripping into the Head-fi Nazis and assholes as much as anyone else, but let's face it, it gets repetitive after a while, and when you're down to whining about low-grade morons like Skyline889 you are definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel. Yes he's a worthless twat, but he's just another one of the 1001 dickwads at the bottom of the pile, do you really think it's worth it to cry about every last insignificant twat on Head-fi? There really are more important things to do than whining & crying about dime a dozen idiots and arguing about your rights to bitch about said idiots.
JBLoudG20 Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Oh don't get me wrong, I agree that it was getting a bit tiring, but I'm arguing the principle of the matter, just to be sand in the vagina.

JBLoudG20 Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Did you even read your own post? Did you have your bottom ribs removed?
aerius Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Oh don't get me wrong, I agree that it was getting a bit tiring, but I'm arguing the principle of the matter, just to be sand in the vagina. Well, knock yourself out then, it's your right to do so. I'm going to go fondle my GF's tits because frankly it's a much better use of my tim.
TheSloth Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 ...just to be sand in the vagina. Eesh...
grawk Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Yeah that's pretty much what I call censorship. Perspective. Ain't it great. I'm not on myspace, smartass. Perhaps you'd be happier there.
philodox Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 I'm going to go fondle my GF's tits because frankly it's a much better use of my tim.Which hand is named Tim? What's the other one's name?
K2Grey Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 I find it amusing that the supposed motto refers to "thin skin" in a negative light, whereas here we see a certain lack of thick skins (not that that the thickness or lack thereof is good/bad on its own). The way I see it, and (isofar as I can tell) the way many others see it, Head-Case is a place for all sorts of discussion about audio related matters (including head-fi) which is not possible on head-fi. If you start censoring threads here (not that censorship is inherently wrong) then the slope may become slippery because while I don't really care for a 60 page thread on head-fi woes and don't feel it adds to head-case much, a RSA debate on head-fi doesn't really add to head-fi much either. Good to see some chest pounding and contests of wills here, though.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 I'm actually in agreement with the dissenters here -- how is the cure any better than the disease? I agree that Head-Case has turned into a whine-about-Head-Fi board, and I agree that it is a bad thing. But shutting down threads that you don't want to hear about...well, that's what they do, and that's what was claimed wasn't done here. As I've said before -- there is only one way to change the nature of discussions on a board, and that is to change the nature of your part in the discussion. E.G. if you want to hear less whining, then whine less. You want to hear positive contributions? Make one's own positive contributions. So...how about those diamond buffers, eh?
aerius Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Which hand is named Tim? What's the other one's name? It should say "time", smartass. My hands don't have names, but my penis does, but that's besides the point.

I'm going to go fondle my GF's tits because frankly it's a much better use of my tim. Well I can't exaclty fondle your g/f tits with my Tim while I'm in class... so I'm left with stoking the fire here. Perspective. Ain't it great. Without it, life would be boring.

Perhaps I wasn't totally clear. I'm not calling on moderators to go delete things I don't like, I'm calling on people to change the nature of their part in the discussion, just like you say. Fortunately people here are actually mature enough to stop and read what they post objectively, and see what they really think.
aerius Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Let us never speak of this again, and instead move on to discussing the joys of receiving wicked blowjobs from a hot naked woman.
grawk Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Ok, in case anyone isn't paying attention. I locked exactly one thread. Then charlie asked everyone to stop fucking whining, so that we didn't feel the need to do it again. Ok? No one was censored, 1 thread was locked, no posts deleted, no people banned. We tried subtlety, we tried asking, we tried locking threads. Now be adults and TAKE A FUCKING HINT. I have no problem with threads legitimately attacking someone. But a 60 page thread about 13 yr olds on headfi. Come on.
TheSloth Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Let us never speak of this again, and instead move on to discussing the joys of receiving wicked blowjobs from a hot naked woman. Just because that is actually a regular feature of your life, no need to make the rest of us feel depressed...
aerius Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Just because that is actually a regular feature of your life, no need to make the rest of us feel depressed... Every sizable city will have an escort service of some sort, and failing that, there's always the brothels in Nevada. If you can afford headphone gear, you can afford a trip to Nevada for a good suck & fuck session.
philodox Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 It should say "time", smartass. My hands don't have names, but my penis does, but that's besides the point. Ummmm... yeah, it was a joke.
Chrysanthemum Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 It should say "time", smartass. My hands don't have names, but my penis does, but that's besides the point. Your penis is the point, no buns intended. Kind of a "boner of contention", if you will.
Chrysanthemum Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Sorry! I had to do that. Now you all can bitch about me.
Post Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 head-fi is down! wah! now i have to come here again!
