blessingx Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 We'll start off with this one: Ballerina Sweetspot Audiophile Chair Anyone got other suggestions?
Beefy Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 Yes, I'm always on the lookout for a chair to tighten up the bass, sweeten the midrange and gave the treble more clarity. Something that also makes the soundstage more holographic and gives instruments a less artificial tone would be helpful too. 1
forbigger Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 Wonder if it comes with automatic blow job or at least hand job mechanism
Dusty Chalk Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 The problem is, it's an interaction thing, so each chair is going to sound different in your room. You're just going to have to buy a few (not more than one or two at a time, presumably) and try them. The most important part (besides comfort, of course) is the material combination closest to the head/ears. I would completely discount anything hard (like solid wood). Cloth materials and suede would be good, but they may make sounds boomier than they were originally. I would also seriously consider something with no or minimal head support. 1

CD44hi Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I got one of these (used), really nice. In theory adjustable "sweet spot locator. " Zero gravity, perfect chair
penger Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 beanbag! Now there's an idea I really like.
Asr Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I was going to put in my vote for the Herman Miller Aeron but it's more of an office chair than anything else (and it's the most awesomest office chair of course). Well, until I saw this one: source: [url=http://www.kalkwijk.com/ximage/pid/144/i/5]Herman Miller
guzziguy Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 That's because it's made with milspec 99.9999% oxygen free copper. You can even listen in outer space.
Genetic Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 Yep I should try this one. I usually listen very late and I can easily fall asleep way before the end of a Dream Theater CD.... Amicalement
Aimless1 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 My dream audio chair would be the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman. The one I use now is an Ekornes Stressless recliner and ottoman It's all about comfort
Genetic Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 ^^^^^ About the Eames chair, if you're more than six feet tall forget about it. Amicalement

Grahame Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 No, use a pile of dollars as your audiophile chair I find that crisp new sequential $100's increase the sense of "Air"
jinp6301 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I like the steelcase leap better then the Aeron.
Dreadhead Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I like the steelcase leap better then the Aeron. x2
Sherwood Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 Goddamnit there is an actual office chair thread at HF that people apparently register over there for specifically. Some people only have posts in that thread.
Icarium Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I like the Aeron and have one at home. I have a steel case at work and its pretty good too and in fact may be more comfortable. The problem with the Steel Case for me is that the build quality doesnt feel nearly as durable as the Aeron. The Aeron feels like itll last me for life (And as I'm a heavy ass mofo ~245 pounds) even after ~3 years it feels as solid as the day I got it. My steel case which I've used for about as long at work feels only slightly better and more durable built than your average office chair and has definitely broken down a bit since I first received it. I am looking at buying the new Herman Miller Embody chair which is their new top of the line office chair... it looks extremely comfortable and even more sturdy than the Aeron chair. I probably will audition it with my hindquarters when I am ready to buy.
shellylh Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I got one of these (used), really nice. In theory adjustable "sweet spot locator. " Zero gravity, perfect chair These are incredible. I wish I had one.
Hopstretch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 TantraChair or GTFO. Decorative nailheads! (Not enormously SFW, duh, but just look how much they're enjoying that Blue Note reissue!)
