jvlgato Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 I have a need to go here while in Chicago Reckless Records Chicago: New & Used LPs, CDs, DVDs, games & more - index.php I used to live by the Broadway location and was a regular. Nice little store. A bit grungy, but nice selection of used stuff. Also used to be a few shops down from the city's best adult toy store ... For those who are into such things ... Can't remember the name though. Great little neighborhood. Geographically called 'Lakeview', culturally called 'Boy's Town', because of the large gay population, so lots of nice restaurants and interesting shops. The Gay Pride parade marches right down that street and is something to behold. Only one neighborhood north of Lincoln Park, and just east of Wrigley Field, also worth a visit. Absorbine_Sr Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 I have a need to go here while in Chicago Reckless Records Chicago: New & Used LPs, CDs, DVDs, games & more - index.php I've only been there once so far but it is an excellent time. Their grading is very good and prices were excellent. If you do get the chance, stop in. They have three locations I believe.
agile_one Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Reckless would be a good stop on the way to TTT.
Aimless1 Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 I've had a family situation come up and will not be able to attend. Unfortunately my presence is necessary and I can not avoid being there nor work around the situation. Too effing bad. I had hoped to finally meet all of you attending CanJam and making some friends within the HC community. Maybe another year or another event. Wishing all of you going the best of times. al
n_maher Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Bummer aimless, but there will be other meets and we all understand that family comes first.
Absorbine_Sr Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Sorry to hear that Al. Hope everything on the home front works out for you and if nothing else I'll see you in Michigan next year. Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Aimless1 Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 There is always MI in winter Hopefully I'll be able to attend something else.
hirsch Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 I was really hoping to get to this one, but a conflict came up and I've got to go down to NC instead. I will get to another one of these if I have to host a DC Canjam myself. I may curse myself for having written that.
agile_one Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Sorry you can't make it, hirsch. Always fun to hang out with you. DC CanJam, eh? We heard it here first.

dsavitsk Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 I have a need to go here while in Chicago Reckless Records Chicago: New & Used LPs, CDs, DVDs, games & more - index.php There are quite a few little record shops spread around Chicago. Off the top of my head, Laurie's Planet of Sound in my neighborhood, Hard Boiled Records in Roscoe Village (~a mile or 2 south of LPoS), Vintage Vinyl up in Evanston (which is right across the street from Audio Consultants if you need some Ayre power amps and Wilson Speakers while you're in town), 2nd Hand Tunes (also in Evanston), Dusty Groove which I've never been to, and the venerable Jazz Record Mart which is downtown. There also used to be a few more near Reckless, but I haven't been to them in years, and I don't know if they are still around.
boomana Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 hirsch, we're going to hold you to that: camjam dc!

Thanks for the heads up although my wallet curses you, see you in Chi-Town
boomana Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Your wallet is too tired and beat up to curse anyone. It's completely submissive at this point.
Augsburger Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Numb's wallet is a revolving door clad in leather.
Augsburger Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Nums has a wallet? You may call it that, but technically it is a conduit with a one hour holding limit.
dsavitsk Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Thanks for the heads up although my wallet curses you, see you in Chi-Town For any guitar players, a trip to the Chicago Music Exchange is worth the time and effort, and the snotty attitude you'll get. Vintage Guitars | Chicago Music Exchange | Electric Guitars | Fender Gibson Marshall Rickenbacker | Vintage Guitar Dealer Other neat Chicago things you should see that aren't on the tourist maps http://www.garfield-conservatory.org/ http://www.hotdougs.com/ Nowhere else are you likely to find "Pear-Infused Elk Sausage with Foie Gras Dijonnaise and Mustard-Seed Gouda Cheese"
Iron_Dreamer Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 hirsch, we're going to hold you to that: camjam dc! Yes indeed! How many more locations do we have before potentially getting into reruns? DC, Boston, Dallas, Seattle, NC, perhaps Toronto? http://www.hotdougs.com/ Nowhere else are you likely to find "Pear-Infused Elk Sausage with Foie Gras Dijonnaise and Mustard-Seed Gouda Cheese" Oh yeah, that has been on my radar and to-do list from the very start!
Grahame Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 ^ Indeed If we could somehow get to Hot Doug's on Friday, as thats when they do the Duck Fat Fries (Fries, Fried in Duck Fat ) Standard Fare : Hot Doug's Specials Hot Doug's Not Forgetting Superdawg (fear the spooky eyes)
swt61 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Oh yeah, that has been on my radar and to-do list from the very start! X2. I saw it recently on some food network show. We should plan a trip there for sure!
recstar24 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I have never been to hot dougs, but it would be worth a visit. I did grow up on Superdawgs though. Whatever recipe they use for their dogs is smoking.
agile_one Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I feel a hot dog throwdown is in order ... how late are these joints open? Nothing better than a couple of dogs at 2 am.
recstar24 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Superdawgs I believe has late night weekend hours, maybe 1 or 2 AM. I think Hot Doug's is a more normal establishment in terms of hours.
