Augsburger Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 *snip* i can always take a sick day Monday, as i'd prefer to not have to rush to leave on Sunday. i have a shit ton of sick days, and they can't keep me from calling in. If you need a doctor's note, I am sure Deepak or Larry can provide you with one.......
Augsburger Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Take the more believable of the two- 1) "Jacob was out due to a gunshot wound" 2) "Jacob was out with the 24hr H1N1 virus"
agile_one Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 reks ... glad you came to your senses and found a way. great you will make it.
morphsci Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I will be leaving for a liesurely trip back on Monday so I would have no problem making sure you make it to Union Station. Oh, and take the note from Deepak. Larry's note requires 763 hours of burn-in with hourly revisits and you have to kiss Blutarsky's ring.
Iron_Dreamer Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 It wouldn't have been the same without you Reks! Glad to see that cooler heads prevailed.
Edwood Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Perfect use of sick time, Jacob! See ya in Chicago! -Ed

'Leisurely' is the key word here ... the Eisenhower is just awful due to massive construction. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time if you're on any kind of schedule. Reks, if you need a ride upon your arrival Fri, I can help out, if it's after work hours. Would be glad to help a fellow Buckeye! )
deepak Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 It looks like I more than likely won't be attending. Something personal has come up, and I don't particularly want to get on another flight on Saturday afternoon after returning from a 22 hour flight.
spritzer Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Damnit!!! Who's going to patch us up after a drunken bar fight or some horrendous midnight baking accident??!!??
Augsburger Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 A 22 hour flight might mean a trip to Asia, I hope things are OK. Sorry to miss you.

Something personal has come up, and I don't particularly want to get on another flight on Saturday afternoon after returning from a 22 hour flight. Sucks, man. Must be serious - I wish you and your family well. I really looked forward to meeting you. Could it work out to have a stop over in Chicago on the way back from wherever? We're a major hub, and very likely to be on the way back from anywhere ...
n_maher Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Bummer Deepak, I hope all is ok or at least will be ok eventually.
The Monkey Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Ugh, so sorry to hear that deepak. We'll have the videocon up and running, though. More importantly, take care of yourself and those around you. Let us know if we can do anything.
Duggeh Posted May 15, 2010 Author Report Posted May 15, 2010 It will be a lessening for all of us that we will not see you Deepak. I hope that what has turned to ill works out well.
boomana Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Just catching up on this thread. Glad Jacob is finding a way to Chicago, but I'm really sorry to hear you'll not be coming, Deepak.
cetoole Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Really glad Jacob will be there, really sad Deepak will not be. I just bought my airline tickets, I am getting in at 8:39pm on Friday, leaving 9:55pm Sunday.
Duggeh Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 If I'm not interested in knifes de facto, but want to watch knife action, can I drink on the sidelines and then make annoying comments like "you should be doing it faster" or "that's the wrong angle"? In this manner, I provide a charitable service in maintaining mean alcohol consumption for the knife fans.
Augsburger Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 The no drinking part is a real sacrifice, but I am in definitely! Bringing the Hattori?

Duggeh, you will be my knife/comment proxy, I shall live vicariously through your momentary foolishness. I must say you are a brave soul to make "annoying comments" to a knife wielding crowd.
Duggeh Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 If I am stabbed to death by irritated knife fans, noone will ever know where I stashed the Tactical Nuclear Penguin, Sink The Bismark, Cameron Brig, Somerset Alchemy Fifteen, or selection of other consumable yum yums.
Duggeh Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 I see a new custom title: "Where others got the shovel. He got the knife."
Augsburger Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Maybe we can perform a William Wallace on someone. (Isosceles talking)
