oogabooga Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Bacon taco Looks amazing! How do you get it to 'hold' together? No Whole Foods near us, but they sell du Breton (a local farm group) black forest bacon: Quote
deepak Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 If you are ever in Montreal, Joe Beef's "Double Down", two pieces of deep fried foie, cheese and bacon sammich Quote
oogabooga Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 DAMN. Considering that Joe Beef is 20 minutes from my work, and I'm currently on a low-carb diet, I'll be going there soon! Quote

Morin describes it as for the blogger generation that likes to be punched in the face with flavor That would be high on my list of stuff to eat next time I'm there Quote
oogabooga Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 I found a bit more out about Joe Beef... reservations are a month or so in advance (earliest I could get was late Feb) and the menu changes daily. So, I'll have more to report in a couple months Quote
agile_one Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Nice, Mikey ... you make Aunt Jemima very proud. Quote
blessingx Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) A New Breadless Bacon Double Cheeseburger Okay, maybe more cheese than bacon news, but they go so well together. Edited March 12, 2013 by blessingx Quote
n_maher Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 Lack of common sense from a person who just ate a 4,300-calorie bacon double cheeseburger with buns made of all-cheese grilled cheese sandwiches? Shut your mouth. LOL Quote
oogabooga Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Perfect for a low carber like myself. Speaking of which, I finally tried the foie gras double down sandwich from Joe Beef (a schmancy restaurant in Montreal). Bacon and cheese between two slices of deep fried foie. Couldn't taste the bacon - I don't think thats ever happened before. Quote

Want sammich too, and Joe Beef is on the list for my next Montreal visit. Quote

The double down was good, but both the gf and I found our mains to be wanting, her veal liver was very salty, my hangar steak not as tender as I would expect. I find Joe Beef a bit hyped up. If you do plan to eat there, reserve early - I had to book 6 weeks in advance. Quote
