Grahame Posted July 21, 2022 Report Posted July 21, 2022 (edited) Does live Political Musical Theater count as live music? (There was a live band providing the music) Saw the San Francisco Mime Troupe Present "Back to the way things were" In Mill Valley. We had snacks. And the 5 person cast put on an entertaining, and thought provoking, show. Comrade. https://www.marinij.com/2022/07/13/theater-review-san-francisco-mime-troupe-battles-robber-barons-onstage-in-the-parks/ Edited July 21, 2022 by Grahame 2

Voltron Posted July 25, 2022 Report Posted July 25, 2022 Are you and JP at another music fest? Where's this one?

mikeymad Posted July 25, 2022 Report Posted July 25, 2022 Interested in hearing how the show is (in the round), I am considering a show later this year. I went years ago with DOTU in SF and it was pretty amazeballs. 1
Voltron Posted July 25, 2022 Report Posted July 25, 2022 I was essentially gonna say and ask the same thing. Except the part about going to see it again. 🤓 1
Aimless1 Posted July 25, 2022 Report Posted July 25, 2022 Not crazy about the show in the round. The screens lift up and of course lot's of political images and dialog on screen. My problem is I was up high (didn't quite qualify for nose bleed) with seats at the rail. Could not see the other side of the stage from my vantage point. Perhaps you could with lower seats. Not sure if I it is because I'm not used to in the round or that the stage facing the audience is actually a better experience. Roger is 78 years old. Missed some vocals and the people I talked to said it was his most politcal show yet. Enjoyed the show. 3 1
Grahame Posted August 6, 2022 Report Posted August 6, 2022 Say, didn't we see this band in Golden Gate Park? Why yes, yes we did see Wreckless Strangers. But without the "modern parenting" that is the fashion in San Anselmo Bless. 2
Voltron Posted August 17, 2022 Report Posted August 17, 2022 Wilco at Interochen's Kresge Auditorium. Opening act is Courtney Marie Andrews, and @blessingx is the sole member to post her music in the listening thread. Most of the crowd is wandering the grounds and enjoying the evening sun than watching Courtney. 6

Most of the crowd is wandering the grounds and enjoying the evening sun than watching Courtney. Ah, my Covid breakup (with humanity) album. Hope both bands were really good and you all had a great time. Most of the crowd blew it. "Like a young Linda Ronstadt at her country-folk finest, Courtney Marie Andrews writes songs that seem lived-in and familiar in the best way. "Guilty" is a time machine straight back to early 1970s Laurel Canyon: beautiful piano, easy drums, and vocals so warm and evocative you feel the heart and the hunger even if you don't know the words. (There are echoes of that other canyon queen, Joni Mitchell, as well, especially in the hiccupping chorus of the gently bubbling "If I Told.") But the words are pretty powerful. Written and recorded at the end of a nine-year relationship—meaning it lasted nearly one-third of her life—Old Flowers finds the singer-songwriter poking at the tender bruise of heartbreak. "This album is about loving and caring for the person you know you can't be with." Edited August 18, 2022 by blessingx 1
Voltron Posted August 18, 2022 Report Posted August 18, 2022 Courtney was really good for the 30 minutes she had. She also came out to sing California Stars with Tweedy. Admittedly, I was a little jealous that the Pitchfork Fest crowd got a duet with Japanese Breakfast, but this was good too. 3
Grahame Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 (edited) Joined the aesthetes of Ross to see "Eos Ensemble: Pastorale in the Redwoods Bask in the dappled light of our rustic Redwood Amphitheater to the sounds of a string trio joined by flute and harp in this program of chamber music with renowned local musicians." A very pleasant way to spend a summer evening Edited August 24, 2022 by Grahame 5
Grahame Posted August 27, 2022 Report Posted August 27, 2022 Helloooo Larkspur! Kickin' off with the Hall middle school advanced Jazz band 2
Grahame Posted September 5, 2022 Report Posted September 5, 2022 (edited) Helloooo Belvedere! Kickin' off with a local youth jazz band And now Super Diamond has the natives on their feet We're pic-nic-ing (stage right) in the shade of Redwoods To avoid the "Mosh Pit" (Those flailing Rolex's could give you quite a slap) Along with the Neil Diamond covers there have been fragments of AC/DC, Led Zep, Rush and A-Ha in a musical medley, and now Sweet Caroline finishing in the style of G'N'R (Sweet child o' mine) Edited September 5, 2022 by Grahame 1
MexicanDragon Posted September 13, 2022 Report Posted September 13, 2022 (edited) Gorillaz 20th Anniversary Tour Also spotted: a @909 in the wild! Love this album so stoked it was represented Damon seems to truly care and is passionate in his performance Thought an Mmmm-Hale-Bopp mashup was coming, but no such luck Uber drivers wouldnt let him drive, so we tried the monorail. They wouldn’t let him drive either. Idk why. We were posted up in front of the sound booth. I think the sound guy noticed David has JH Audio custom earplugs so he got the set list!!! It’s now residing with me; love it! This is the instrument I should have played growing up instead of saxophone. Alas. Perhaps in my next life/simulation. Dig the venue And the photographer was literally right behind us. Hoping to find some of those images soon. Had a good time; this was a bucket list band for me to see live Edited September 13, 2022 by MexicanDragon 6
jpelg Posted September 21, 2022 Report Posted September 21, 2022 Yola @Webster Hall in NYC last night. She sounded great, but I'm getting too old for standing-room only venues, especially on a weeknight. 5
