Dusty Chalk Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 Unholy carp, that looks awesome. Don't miss First Aid Kit, they're a recent discovery for me, and I love 'em. Jello Biafra? 1

shellylh Posted November 6, 2017 Report Posted November 6, 2017 Saw Sarah Jarosz (and opener The Brother Brothers) tonight. Both were great! 3
acidbasement Posted November 14, 2017 Report Posted November 14, 2017 I just saw Ne Obliviscaris destroy everyone's brain in Winnipeg. They're heading south and east. You in their path need to check them out. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted November 14, 2017 Report Posted November 14, 2017 They're going from Canada to North Carolina and skipping right past me this time (presumably because it's Thanksgiving week), unfortunately. And I'm getting too old to be driving 4.5 hours each way to North Carolina. Although I do like what I heard of theirs.
MexicanDragon Posted November 15, 2017 Report Posted November 15, 2017 Played a holiday concert last night at the Memorial Auditorium in Chattanooga.Kids came out to watch.Good night. So tired.Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk 6 1
ironbut Posted November 15, 2017 Report Posted November 15, 2017 Looks like a great concert! And your kids look like they are very proud of their "old man". Happy Holidays! 1

Dusty Chalk Posted March 4, 2018 Report Posted March 4, 2018 Went and saw 1000mods tonight. Opener Telekinetic Yeti blew me away -- they had kind of a Royal Blood thing going on, except instead of bass, the guitar guy played a seven string, so it was just him and the drummer. A lot of syncopated rhythms and unorthodox time signatures, so I was happy. 1000mods were awesome, too, of course. It was their first time in America coming over from Greece. I hope it isn't the last time.

Luckily I was close enough that most of those people were behind me or off to the sides, but... Yeah.Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk

ironbut Posted April 30, 2018 Report Posted April 30, 2018 (edited) I finished processing my recordings from The Monterey Jazz Festival back in Sept. and a few tracks from the 2016 festival too. That year I was in the middle of packing up my home in San Jose and dolling it up to sell so I figured I just combine the two. If you go to my SoundCloud page I posted 6 new tracks 2 from the Joshua Redman Quartet 2016 2 from Regina Carter's Southern Comfort Band 2017 2 from a fantastic tribute to Quincy Jones with Christian McBride bass, Hubert Laws flute, Dave Grusin keys, James Carter tenor sax, Lewis Nash drums and Valerie Simpson lead vocals. Here's a taste of Josh Redman playing in one of the medium sized venues ending 2016 Edited April 30, 2018 by ironbut 2 1
Voltron Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 We saw Ry Cooder and Rosanne Cash play Johnny Cash songs at SFJAZZ tonight and I am a better person for it. We also met Rosanne in the green room, but not Ry, sadly. Here is Claire, her sister and sister's girlfriend with American Country Royalty. 5 1
guzziguy Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 Sorry you missed Ry. He deserves to be in some Hall of Fame on Buena Vista Social Club alone.
ironbut Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 Looks like an amazing night out! Rosanne has really done herself and her dad proud musically and personally. Gotta a lot of respect for her.
mikeymad Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 Very cool Al -- and thanks for sharing the recordings Steve - they are great.
