grawk Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 You know, everything is rehashed. Everything. So to me, it's ultimately about whether or not it's interesting. And that's just so subjective. Yah, but come on, post hiatus phish isn't interesting for anyone
Dusty Chalk Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I'm sure it's pretty interesting for Trey's accountant.
postjack Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I'm sure it's pretty interesting for Trey's accountant. also interesting for the opiate receptors in trey's brain.
postjack Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Just got back from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Best I've ever seen them live, so amazing. Got to shake Bela and Victor's hands after the show. One thing that is appealing about these guys is that they are all gods of their respective instruments, but they all share a real, true humility that is just so attractive. The show was small, probably not a big money maker, but they still took the time to come into the crowd afterwards and sign autographs and take pictures with everyone until the crowd cleared out. I just hope they keep playing and touring until they are like, 100 years old.
Chekhonte Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 so I went to that dinosuar JR concert and it rocked. They played their classic songs and some of the new songs from their album beyond. I'm really surprised that beyond is such a good album and true to their old sound.
postjack Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 just got back from seeing the symphony at an outdoor amphitheater down at the beach. lots of crowd pleasing type americana and scottish/irish riverdance type music. and fireworks! it was a lot of fun. also fred thompson was there. which was really weird. they showed one of his campaign ads or whatever on the big screen, then he stood up and they shined a spotlight on him. i was like, JUST watching him on the tnt law & order marathon before I left for the concert. weird.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Saturday Night -- Crack the Sky -- they rocked. Were having an off night, but they still managed to rock. Friday Night -- High Blue Star, Red This Ever, and Attrition (25 year anniversary tour) -- High Blue Star, in particular, blew me away. Attrition -- like the Young Gods and others of similar ilk -- have become a trance band. Laurie sang with them, she's a very powerful singer. I really need to get my shit together and start doing this shit myself.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Well, they're still interesting -- not trance trance, like ... I dunno, pick some techno compilation of Trance Traxx -- but...yeah, pretty much. They went psychedelic for a while (forecasting the change in the weather with tracks like "Moon Revolutions"...and then Second Nature is pretty much a trance record with vocals. Tracks like "Lucidogen" are still very good, but nothing like ...Plays Kurt Weil or T.V. Sky and/or Only Heaven, my favourite two albums by them.
mjg Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 G3 at madison square garden last march. Got dream theater coming up aug 25th at jones beach : )
postjack Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 In a few hours, The Police. cool, be sure to tell us how it goes. my brother-in-law saw them in orlando and said it was great.
grawk Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 I have recordings of several of the shows. They're pretty good, but yah, they're not playing the records by any means.
philodox Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Oh god, you went to that concert Eaphan? My Wife came back from Ottawa and got stuck on a bus back into Hamilton with a bunch of drunk middle aged losers... guess what concert they just came from?
JBLoudG20 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 You let your wife refer to you like that Jay?
postjack Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 my boss saw them last week (i think last week), be prepared for lots of pointless noodling and forgotten lyrics sounds like a 90's dead show.
philodox Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 You let your wife refer to you like that Jay?LOL, I've been called worse... but I was home asleep at this point.
grawk Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 if you are talking about post 1995, i bet Jerry Garcia got the lyrics wrong quite a bit Less often than the few years prior
909 Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 RUSH at the Hollywood Bowl (just got home)--one of the best concerts I've seen--period--fuck'n excellent!
aerius Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 After seeing their antics last night, I'd be surprised if The Police manage to make it to the end of their tour without killing each other.
grawk Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 After seeing their antics last night, I'd be surprised if The Police manage to make it to the end of their tour without killing each other. What'd they do?
aerius Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 Sting & Copeland were mouthing off at each other after every few songs, and for I while I thought Copeland was going to whip his drumsticks at him. Despite all that, they still put on a pretty good show.
909 Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Last night I saw RUSH at the Coors Amphitheatre in Chula Vista. Great show as usual, but the band looked tried compared to the Los Angeles show at the Hollywood Bowl. My 13th row dead-center seat was incredible, yet I still managed to move up a few rows to the 4th row and believe it or not six seats to my right stood my Products Liability Professor--strange to see him rocking and knowing the words. Had an excellent time--got my RUSH fix. The next band I am very excited to see is Jethro Tull!
Dusty Chalk Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Rush are amazing live. Jethro Tull are great, too. You going to any of the Genesis dates? Seems like you'd like them. I could be wrong, though.
postjack Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 genesis is king of all bands. my current obsession is "a trick of the tail", "squonk" in particular. i could listen to that song like, forever.
909 Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Rush are amazing live. Jethro Tull are great, too. You going to any of the Genesis dates? Seems like you'd like them. I could be wrong, though. I think Rush is getting better with age too and they seem to enjoy playing together. Don't own one Genesis album not for any reason, but I've not had much of any exposure to them. What should be my first Genesis CD?
