manaox2 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Just saw a thread about this on Audiocircles so I thought I would post the link here: Something wicked this way comes…the Dell Inspiron Zino HD AMD at Home I saw that in yesterdays thread. Its cheaper then the $799 mac mini I would want, but not much after configuring it to my wants 1mb cache 1.53 ghz, 4gb ram, ati HD graphics, blu-ray, add in my own 1Tb drive, Wireless N, Win7 Home (around $680). I'm still tempted to go this route if the reviews are as good as that one.

I am not getting one as I have the mini but does look interesting if you don't need all the bells and whistles. I need a comp for me wife to use in the bedroom using the tv as the monitor. This maybe a cheap alternative to a mini as she needs a basic unit for internet and email. She doesn't like small keyboards due to carpal tunnel issues.
n_maher Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 The way I configged it I came up with a pretty decent system for ~$488. Not the best but way cheaper than the comparable mini.
blubliss Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 When these start hitting the Outlet (in a few months), there will be deals to be had.
morphsci Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 When these start hitting the Outlet (in a few months), there will be deals to be had. Great minds think alike
jinp6301 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Is the integrated card enough to play high def videos?

morphsci Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 A related but not directly on-topic question. Does itunes run any better on Windows 7 compared to Vista or XP?
luvdunhill Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 When these start hitting the Outlet (in a few months), there will be deals to be had. by outlet do you mean Austin
Dusty Chalk Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 No, I think he means the Dell Outlet.
luvdunhill Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 No, I think he means the Dell Outlet. I think we have those in most convenience stores here
Dusty Chalk Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Damn, Austin is much moar advanced than the DC area, all they sell here is milk, beer, lottery, newspapers, Slurpees, etc.
luvdunhill Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Damn, Austin is much moar advanced than the DC area, all they sell here is milk, beer, lottery, newspapers, Slurpees, etc. ya know, I there was a period when 7-eleven was all over the place down here... then they sorta migrated away from Waco (where I grew up and lived before Austin), closest being like 30 minutes away. Looks like there are a few in Austin now that I look at their website.
blubliss Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 No, I think he means the Dell Outlet. Correct, I have bought many things from the outlet and never had a problem. I always add on coupons that come out regularly, for like 10-20%, so it's an even better deal. But, people snag the good stuff quick. People used to run scripts there to put things in the basket as soon as they appeared, then it was really hard to get the best stuff. Dell made it a bit tougher now. Have to enter a code to add stuff to your basket. My latest deal was a netbook for about $235 delivered with quite nice specs. I think we have those in most convenience stores here Really??
