dreamwhisper Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Which digital input do you use and why?
penger Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 usb -> pico dac. Why? Convenience I suppose.
tkam Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 rca coax, it's only digital input my apl denon has
spritzer Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Ditto but I will change it to a BNC soon. BNC input on my Audio Sector Dac1
wrecked_porsche Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Optical when on my desktop (ibasso D1 - sounds better via optical rather than USB) and usb (Pico DAC) when on my laptop.
swt61 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Not currently using any, but will be soon. I like AES/EBU. I found that it sounded noticeably better than the coaxial input on my last Opus DAC.
Duggeh Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 USB - COAX RCA - COAX RCA. (Trends UD10.1) - (Sony DAC) Neither has BNC.
Beefy Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Where is the option for it doesn't matter? If you have decent equipment, then you should be able to use any connection method without too much stress. Sure, you might be able to see jitter or a sloppy SPDIF signal on a scope, but IMHO audibility of such things is tenuous at best - unless you are very specifically listening for it.
morphsci Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Mac-Mini --- Dac Magic ----Toslink because thats all that will work SB3 ---- Overture ----- Toslink because thats all that will work Netbook ------ Pico ----- USB because thats all that will work Transporter ------ CA 840c ------ Coax RCA because I can I let the majority carry my poll vote
screaming oranges Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 BNC, Because Nicaraguans Can, that's why. True 75ohm ftw, that's right! I said it.
dreamwhisper Posted November 12, 2009 Author Report Posted November 12, 2009 RCA or USB if Pico. Why do you ask? There's another thread where we're talking about digital inputs being up to spec, and I wanted to put my concerns that my method is vastly inferior into perspective. Thanks Beefy
shellylh Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Toslink Optical from Macbook Pro Coax RCA from CD player Easiest options.
Smeggy Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 i use usb becsusethats what my picos need
Dusty Chalk Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Smoke signals, because my music collection is currently in the hands of apache indians.
Torpedo Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I voted RCA coaxial SPDIF since it's the most used link between the CEC CD transport and the Bidat DAC, or the Sony ES player into the DA11, but I'm using other connections depending on the setup: Computer>USB>Lavry DA11 CEC CD Transport > AES/EBU> Lavry DA11 Sony CD > Toslink> Bidat
Salt Peanuts Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Firewire (iMac to Duet) Coax (Squeezebox into Denon receiver)
Cankin Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 anyone tried HDMI out from their computers to A/V receiver?
