Voltron Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 (edited) Hurray, we bought another title! Edited November 5, 2009 by Voltron
Voltron Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 Did it come with a certificate of authenticity?
penger Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 FWIW Even though they "spent" so much money in the off season, I believe their payroll this year might actually be less than it was last year.
justin Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 WHOOO YANKEES!!! i thought Bayside was Mets?
jinp6301 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Bayside is Mets, but NYC >>> Phillies
morphsci Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Could have been worse, the phillies could have won.
The Monkey Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 As a Yankee fan, not only am I delighted by this win because it restores the Natural Order of Things, but I also believe that I, as a native New Yorker, am entitled to multiple World Series Championships. The rest of you should, of course, continue to root for your silly little teams. They sometimes win it all, too! EDIT: Well, except for the Cubs, they don't win it all, poor bastards.
morphsci Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 ..... EDIT: Well, except for the Cubs, they don't win it all, poor bastards. Rub it in why don't you.
grawk Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 another year goes by where my preferred outcome doesn't happen. One of these days a meteor will fall from space and kill both teams.
The Monkey Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Rub it in why don't you. Heh, sorry about that. My father, brother, and I are trying to plan a pilgrimage to Wrigley next summer.
morphsci Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Heh, sorry about that. My father, brother, and I are trying to plan a pilgrimage to Wrigley next summer. <cough>CanJam'10<cough>
MexicanDragon Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 <cough>CanJam'10<cough> Sorry Jim... they play @ Houston on those dates. I blame the organizers for picking an Away weekend. **BRENT**
morphsci Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 (edited) You are incorrect sir, the most enjoyable time to visit Wrigley is when the Cubs are playing away. You could always come in the weekend before and see them play St. Louis on 5/29 or 5/30 if you were actually interested in seeing an actual game for some strange reason. morphsci Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 people watch baseball? Are you referring to the cubs with that comment?
Aura Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 EDIT: Well, except for the Cubs, they don't win it all, poor bastards. 2003 was painful. And since then we've ridden a wave of mediocrity as I watched the Red Sox (second longest winless streak to that point), White Sox, and Cardinals take a world series consecutively. Baseball is not kind for Cubs fans. Maybe we're just fools.
aardvark baguette Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Are you referring to the cubs with that comment? If they are a 'baseball' team, then yes
morphsci Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 If they are a 'baseball' team, then yes Well that's the rub then, isn't it.
Wmcmanus Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 As a White Sox fan growing up, about the only thing I ever liked about the Cubs was that they always sucked. Of course, the same could be said about the Sox, but at least they eventually won a World Series. Getting back to Al's topic, I don't like what money has done to professional sports, but that's now the way of life. What really sucks is that it has crept into the collegiate sports (especially men's football and basketball) as well, although thankfully, it's less painfully obvious at that level.
Voltron Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 Sorry Jim... they play @ Houston on those dates. I blame the organizers for picking an Away weekend. **BRENT** Indeed. Very weak.
MexicanDragon Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 I plan on boycotting CJ'10 b/c of no cubbies. But what I was saying about not going to Wrigley... they sold it, right? Probably won't be Wrigley anymore. Google Park, maybe? Who bought them again? **BRENT**
