I haven't spent much time with the HD600 and now that I've sold the HD800, the 650 sounds a bit boomy. Granted, it is headphiled, but I suspect it would still sound boomy if I were to replace the grills.

Any thoughts re the 600? I haven't spent much time with it. And what would be a good price used?

Oh yeah, I've still got the original prototype Enigma OMGWTFBBQ HD600 cable sitting in a drawer somewhere here collecting dust. I'll send it to you and you can tell me if I was nuts to think it made a nice difference.

I can send you mine on an extended loan. I have a Blue Dragon cable that I think sounds best with it, plus you could play with the OMGWTFBBQ for comparisons.

You could roll both cables and DACs in search of ultimate synergy. Good times!

Take Al up on his offer and get JH13s. Then you can take the OMGWTFBBQ cable and re-term them for the JH13s to compare. Then you sell the HD650s and sell Al's HD600s with blue dragon cable, and sell the OMGWTFBBQ cable, and there's a good chunk of getting your JH13s.

I have a feeling, however, you won't follow my suggestion.

IMHO the HD600 are the best dynamic phones under $300. Well balanced, resolving enough... not many flaws to criticize. However coming from true high end phones, one can be missing a few things. I like them better than the HD650, I find these boomy too ;D
