BoilermakerFan
Hey, One set would be great! I tore apart my Sylvania TV camera last night to gut it for the eXStata Hybrid build, so I didn't have time to dig through all the totes. I'll see if I can find their tote and measure what I have. BoilermakerFan
Exstata looks good to me as well! I'm a beta builder, one hybrid and one SS version. I'll use a balanced OptiVols for volume so I just need RK27s to control both channels. I'm looking at those dual and quad ALPS for bass and treble controls on a console refurb. Les_Garten
Not related to the original thread but related to some of the segues in the thread along he way. What is the difference between a 2SK389 and a 2SK389BL? I don't see any reference on the datasheet to the BL designator.
luvdunhill
I don't see any reference on the datasheet to the BL designator. read it again. It's there: http://www.djgardner.com/headphone/gilmore/datasheets/2sk389.pdf Edited November 10, 2009 by luvdunhill
BoilermakerFan
My knobs were crap too, 4.5mm ID on the small knob and 5.25mm on the bigger bottom knob.
Les_Garten
read it again. It's there: http://www.djgardner.com/headphone/gilmore/datasheets/2sk389.pdf I've looked at that in some detail but am admittedly Noob at this. I see GR, BL, and V. The difference being IDSS values. But what is it if you just see 2SK389 by itself? My knobs were crap too, 4.5mm ID on the small knob and 5.25mm on the bigger bottom knob. I never found any knobs that were very interesting or very high quality. the seller of the POTs doesn't know any either.
luvdunhill
But what is it if you just see 2SK389 by itself? Either insufficient info (the grade is clearly marked on the package) or a crappy fake if there isn't a marking.
Les_Garten
Either insufficient info (the grade is clearly marked on the package) or a crappy fake if there isn't a marking. Ok, I get it. I was mainly referring to places that sell it based on 2SK389 with no designator. So that would fall under: insufficient info Thanx! What's the budget? I can have dual sets drafted up in CAD and cranked out on our CNC mills, then off to the anodizer, but it's not free. A cheaper way is to find the time to get over to my buddy's place with two bars of 6061-T6 and chuck them in his metal lathe, but that's the slow pine box to Georgia route... I don't want to go to anywhere near that much work! This was for a temp pot at best for troubleshooting and setup, and maybe for use. But i'll keep it in mind you have access to that type of stuff when I really need a favor!
