jp11801 Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 It's a Rega 600, with (I think) an OL rewire. The Origin paperwork was in the box although the seller never said anything about it. Cart is a high-output Benz Ace. The cantilever doesn't look quite straight, which is a bit of a bummer, but it tracks fine and sounds fine so I'm going to let it go. we need you to take one for the team and pick up a ULN-2 or ULN-8 and start NDing your LPs:p
Hopstretch Posted October 19, 2009 Author Report Posted October 19, 2009 I might re-acquire a Duet eventually and give that a shot.
jp11801 Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Stretch sell the phono pre and take the funds for the duet add em together throw in a few extra shekels and you are golden! Who was it said "One box to RULE then all"? Shamelessly working on a Men at Work "remastered" 12 inch three track single I picked up in the city. Sounds good if you like the men down under
foo_me Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 The EC phono pre is really great and a bargain if Craig can keep it in the $900-1200 range he was talking about at the last meet. I've been bugging Craig about it since the technics table I got is just sitting there. He said he just needs some time to sit down and crank them out...sigh...so no date yet. On the positive side, he said the price would be in the neighborhood of $800 Will keep bugging him though
tom_hankins Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 I listen to a lot of music, but the turntable is all the way across the room, so I listen to my computer audio I have to admit, since i got the CDP from RAM i listen to about 30% of my music on CDs now.
Hopstretch Posted October 19, 2009 Author Report Posted October 19, 2009 And the computer audio thing blurs the line even further. I have more vinyl on the hard drive than in the record rack. Who cares as long as it sounds good!

So you want men down under? NTTAWWT
Dusty Chalk Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 I can't believe you passed up the opportunity to place "twelve inches from" anywhere in that sentence.
Voltron Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 I can't believe you passed up the opportunity to place "twelve inches from" anywhere in that sentence. Actually, I was editing post but got a phone call. Maybe I would have gilded the lily that way, but my sincere question was whether you want the music or the ULN-2?
CarlSeibert Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Shoulda ordered those transformers before I started building the box. The nice fellow at CineMag says they're out and they have to build some. And it didn't sound like a Plitron wind-everything-to-order-so-it's-no-biggie-and-only-takes-a-couple-days kind of thing.
Hopstretch Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 Anyone have any recommendations for LP holders/organizers that can fit into existing shelving? Thinking of your basic toast-rack sort of concept, although Googling "record racks" yields this instead, not that I'm particularly surprised.
postjack Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Tony's Woodshop $50 finished cherry crates. I use them, but not on existing shelving. I actually use two crates as bookends then put the rest of my vinyl inbetween them, on the ground at the foot of my bed. I intend to buy more crates eventually.

Voltron Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 If it is just for purposes of keeping some records handy for playing, then something like these will be functional though not particularly exciting.
Hopstretch Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 Thanks Al, was thinking more in terms of permanent organization. Guess there's nothing really stopping me just racking them in the shelves with a couple of heavy bookends like Jack does. So I'll just start there!
Voltron Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 This German site has very cool stuff, and might be available for shipping or could be located stateside. These are very cool for starters: For 50 records: and this one allegedly holds 80 records (my favorite): And this for 100: Other options, though mostly furniture/racks, can be found in this Hoffman thread.
Voltron Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 The feeling it mootal. Since you seem to speak all western languages, does it seem you can order from that place and get it shipped here?
n_maher Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 And this for 100: Paris Hilton has a record? WTF? Paris Hilton STARS ARE BLIND 2x12" Record - eBay (item 260493682102 end time Oct-26-09 11:49:28 PDT)
penger Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 TTVJ has one as well. Login : TTVJ, Todd The Vinyl Junkie Perhaps a bit pricey?
robm321 Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Classic I use a black chest. Works but is heavy.
swt61 Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Paris Hilton has a record? WTF? Nice try at the diversionary tactics there Nate, but we all know you own that album.
