HeadphoneAddict Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Hey look, open box A5 (in black) for 249$. (If Vicki wants them, let her get them. If any of you guys get this before she can, the HC Mafia and/or Ninjas will hunt you down and do unspeakable things). Used **BRENT** P.S. *Warning Addendum* The aforementioned "unspeakable things", though unspeakable, will be documented by Ari with his new toy and posted for all to see. Someone needs to buy her A2 as well (I have a pair, so not me).
jinp6301 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Uh what? She already has a pair of the A2s.
HeadphoneAddict Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Uh what? She already has a pair of the A2s. I meant - someone needs to buy her A2 from her, if she got the A5.
jinp6301 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Ahh, ok. It wasnt clear from your sentence. Maybe she can use the A2s as tweeters for the A5s
boomana Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 So the A5s may be the way to go, but that will not be for a few months. Between the A2s, the ipod classic, a CD buying binge, the FoxL, a camera, the Iggy Pop poster, not cheap framing on two posters, a print of Arvo Part I bought from the photographer and the framing for that, and....er.....other random stuff, my toy money has been depleted. Tis now the season to buy for others. I have the feeling this year's Christmas bonus won't be as pretty as in previous years, so I'll just live with what I've got, and maybe by early spring, I'll have a better idea and some more cash to get something I prefer. Oh...and I've been listening to that little FoxL thing for a couple days. It reminds me of a decent clock radio I used to have. I'll hang on to it for awhile, mostly for travel, but since I don't really travel.....
The Monkey Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Ferguson Hill sounds like a cut rate brand of Bourbon. Heh, absolutely. So the A5s may be the way to go, but that will not be for a few months. I've been tempted by the A5s for a while. I love the bamboo version.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 I've been tempted by the A5s for a while. I love the bamboo version. Damn, the bamboo version does look tasty. It's a good thing I've no need for a pair of powered bookshelf speakers...yet.
MexicanDragon Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Ahh, ok. It wasnt clear from your sentence. Maybe she can use the A2s as tweeters for the A5s No... the BEST thing she could do would be to use the A2s as the "sub" for her FoxL. Now someone figure out how she can do that and all will be well. **BRENT**
crappyjones123 Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 just saw this on diyaudio. not sure its up vicki's alley but looks cool. made from pvc piping.
boomana Posted November 14, 2009 Author Report Posted November 14, 2009 I'm not really a pvc piping type gal.
blessingx Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Audioengine tends to have 25% off coupons around the gadget shows. Did for both CES and Macworld last year (in fact worked for months after) so January could be a good time to be considering. Codes tend not to be that difficult to figure out. MW 2009 was MW09, PowerBook Central 10% off was PBC10, Digital Home Thoughts 10% off was DHT10, for instance.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Or you could just google for them.
jinp6301 Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Someone had a FoxL at the meet and was blasting them. Kind of a douchy thing to do but they sounded pretty nice
Dusty Chalk Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Only $12,000: Nola Micro Grand Reference -- footprint is smaller than a piece of paper (well, sort of: 9.5" x 9.5").
morphsci Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 ^^^For some reason I have little confidence in linear scaling in this application.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Funny, the page I linked to says they're 11.5" x 11.5", so they may be even larger than I pictured. I'd stick with the Tannoys then.
