Grahame Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 And you wouldn't want to risk those bits by using plebian non-ECC RAM? Only the best ECC for your precious-es.
boomana Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Okay, I'm beginning to not understand this thread in the same way I don't understand the Wavelength WaveLink Asynchronous USB to thingamaboppie thread. Bah.
tyrion Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 All you have to understand Vicki is that you must sell your Exemplar, buy a mac mini, uln-2 and let Jp set it up when he is in town.
VPI Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 If B&H ever gets the Metric Halo back in stock I am going to have to try it. Is set up a difficult task?
boomana Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 All you have to understand Vicki is that you must sell your Exemplar, buy a mac mini, uln-2 and let Jp set it up when he is in town. but but but.....I like my Examplar \
Hopstretch Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Sorry, progress, you understand. Dan will be happy to cart it away for you.
The Monkey Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 If B&H ever gets the Metric Halo back in stock I am going to have to try it. Is set up a difficult task? Those damn TRS jacks on the back piss me off.
jinp6301 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Can't you just use trs/xlr or trs/rca jacks?
n_maher Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Those damn TRS jacks on the back piss me off. We have ways of making them talk.
Voltron Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 If B&H ever gets the Metric Halo back in stock I am going to have to try it. Is set up a difficult task? Why not order direct from Metric Halo?
jp11801 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Why not order direct from Metric Halo? anyone that buys one of these that also owns a TT should opt for the DSP software to run RIAA so the unit can pull phono pre duty THe TRS jacks are not a big deal just solder on Nuetrik mono TRS jacks or send them to your favorite solder jockey
Augsburger Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Guitar stores sell them as well, but there are much better alternatives if you can ask nicely.
The Monkey Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 heh, I can build them myself, but it's still annoying.
jinp6301 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I have a LOOOONG TRS/RCA cable that you can have Dinny
VPI Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 Why not order direct from Metric Halo? $200 dollars cheaper at B&H
VPI Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 At the apple store playing with the new 27" iMac. Fantastic machine. They let me hook up some Sony video camera via firewire and process some video in Final Cut Pro and the thing flew. No Magic Meeses but I did get my loaded iMac.
grawk Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Gotta love it. Want to save $200 on your dac, but you go into the apple store for an 800 mac mini and walk out with a $4100 imac
VPI Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 They found me a 2.53/320/4GB Mac Mini also so I have tons of new toys to play with tonight.
grawk Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 You're officially my hero. You have all the good toys, computers, guns, and a dinny-esque collection of sources.
VPI Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 Sorry to disappoint you guys but the iMac is a gift for my mom who I have finally convinced to move over from the dark side after her Dell desktop died in an electrical storm. I already have a Mac Pro and an older iMac so I am not really in the market for anything but the mini for my music server and magic meeses for everything.
grawk Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 The obvious solution is for mom to get the hand me down imac
VPI Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 I just use the iMac for a computer in the guest bed room and it hardly gets used as the Mac Pro will handle all my desktop needs. It typically just plays movies for people staying there since I do not have cable/TV in that room. I think mom will get a lot more use out of this than me.
