boomana Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Half of us can't remember what gear we've had, and you can't even keep track of others' gear-slutting ways. Good idea that's entirely impractical.
The Monkey Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Posted October 10, 2009 I'm going to figure this out; devise a great system; and not let any of you participate.
aardvark baguette Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 godspeed. i wouldn't mind seeing something work out, i think it would be pretty cool.
The Monkey Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Posted October 10, 2009 Actually, this is something for which Google Wave might work.
deepak Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 A suggestion for our profile gear list. Could we make it so it opens up a box (when you click the edit value button), instead of a single line? That way we can make lists instead of putting everything in one line.
Voltron Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Inspired by Dinny's zeal, I filled in my profile here for the first time. If we used some kind of consistent format for data entry, couldn't the profile fields be harvested automagically? I am assuming no, given the responses and the thoughts of other much more technically inclined and computer savvy individuals, but it wouldn't seem to be beyond the realm of possibilities. And Dinny, when you figure out your solution, please note I was supportive and therefore should not be excluded. Thank you.
Dusty Chalk Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 If we used some kind of consistent format for data entry, couldn't the profile fields be harvested automagically?Sure. But data is usually reflected by the data entry system, and since it's free format, there is a good likelihood that the number of different formats will be greater than or equal to the number of different data enterers.
The Monkey Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 Ridiculous. These are computers, dammit! Computers can do anything.
grawk Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I'd be glad to submit a bid to build the data harvester. Given the constraints, and how quickly it will have to run to keep up with Mike and Dinny, I'm thinking maybe $500k deliverable in 3 years.
The Monkey Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 Done. With all that Amazon cash flowing in to the site, this should be a piece of cake.
MexicanDragon Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Folders : Shared folders - Google Docs Help Seemingly new google docs feature... Folders: Shared folders You can create shared folders if you'd like to share a group of related items. To create a folder, first select Folder from the Create new drop-down menu. etc... No need to start a new e-mail addy for it now. **BRENT**
robm321 Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Commitment and effort are but a couple of reasons this should just remain a great idea... and nothing more

(Not at the Mike and Dinny comment, but the fact that you'd take this on at all.)
guzziguy Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Then the chances of it actually working would be about 50-50.
grawk Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 If I did it myself, the odds are much closer to 0
tyrion Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I'd be glad to submit a bid to build the data harvester. Given the constraints, and how quickly it will have to run to keep up with Mike and Dinny, I'm thinking maybe $500k deliverable in 3 years. Dinny wishes he could keep up.
blubliss Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 That friggin' GATORS avatar of yours is makin' me sick . Fight On!
ktm Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Worst thing of all, what if our wives find the list. I spend too much time hiding all the spare stuff as it is.
