sharnid Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 I got a snip from wiki about valve (tube) amplifier that made me curious: The Soviets retained valves to a much greater extent than the west during the cold war, for the majority of their communications and military amplification requirements, in part due to tubes' ability to withstand instantaneous overloads (notably due to a nuclear detonation) that would destroy a transistor. SO...what would protect my rig from a nuclear blast? A giant lead fridge? ...seemed to work for Indiana Jones. ..yes, this is paranoia, mythbuster-addict that I am I like to throw money at oddities and potential problems Quote
deepak Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 What is the point of this thread? Did you read the welcome PM... maybe this "question" is better served at Headfi. Quote
sharnid Posted September 18, 2009 Author Report Posted September 18, 2009 This is offtopic section so I thought it'd be fine. Sorry, requesting thread delete. Quote
boomana Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 With the rare exception, there are no thread or post deletes here, and your edit window is only a few minutes. It's a good idea to think before you post. Quote
spritzer Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Yeah EMP's (electro magnetic pulses) are a problme for headphone listening. "Oh no, I can't listen to my headphones with these damn nuclear bombs going off all the time... " Quote
mypasswordis Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 So that's why I have syphilis, I thought it was my ill-functioning power conditioner all this time. Quote
