veloaudio Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 I'm hoping to pick up a pair of A5s soon but due to my desk arrangement I can only handle stands with about a 4 inch rise max. I just noticed these stands on the Audioengine site. Audioengine DS1 Anyone try them out or something similar? I know ideally I should get the speakers up higher but angled like this may be my best option.

veloaudio Posted August 23, 2009 Author Report Posted August 23, 2009 Studio Isolation Tools | Sweetwater.com You might be able to find them cheaper on ebay Thanks. The MoPADs look interesting but are a little big. I may just pull the trigger on the DS1's and report back.
blessingx Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 I've found one of these and one of these works pretty well for my A5s. A couple inches over your requirements though.
bradyb Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Hi Veloaudio - if you're still considering the ADS1 stands for your A5's you might want to double-check the dimensions as they were designed for smaller speakers such as the A2: Audioengine - Upgrade your music I'm with Audioengine and we're working on a large stand with a similar design (ADS2 - how original) for the A5s and passive AP4 speakers. The tooling is a bit tricky for the material used on these so they won't likely be out until Dec. I hope this isn't taken as shilling - I just wanted to give a heads-up on these stands so you're not disappointed if you buy them for the A5! Best regards, Brady Audioengine

The Monkey Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Welcome aboard Brady. Audioengine makes quality stuff.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 I hope this isn't taken as shilling...Absolutely not, you let us know up front you're with the company, which is all we ask (it's the difference between shilling and just responding responsibly). You may get labelled as a MOT (Member Of the Trade), though (so you don't have to announce yourself every time you post).
bradyb Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Thanks! I've been lurking on and off and try to follow everything that's going on with the latest h-phones, amps, etc.. It's so refreshing to see new high-quality gear - at prices that even people with startup companies can afford.
Fungi Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Just a heads up to the mods, audioengine is singular

Best regards, Brady Audioengine Brady, I saw the DS1's on the site and assumed they would fit. I had not compared the dimensions of the A5 to the stands yet. Any idea when the DS2 might be released? Thanks for the info and welcome to Head-case! -Matt

morphsci Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Get the mopads, the A5s are 8 inches deep anyway.
veloaudio Posted August 26, 2009 Author Report Posted August 26, 2009 It looks like December at the earliest. I'm thinking December. Evidently I can't read
Dusty Chalk Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 The DS1's might still work, though, neh? By tilting the speaker, you're moving the center of gravity over to a more stable area. I guess it depends on the speaker.
veloaudio Posted September 7, 2009 Author Report Posted September 7, 2009 Well my A5's came in. Like them so far but I knew right away I had to get them off the desk. Here is my current solution:
jinp6301 Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Thats actually how the A2s are set up for me right now. They work very well
veloaudio Posted September 8, 2009 Author Report Posted September 8, 2009 I don't like how they look but they work and they were free
