jvlgato Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Ah, got it, thanks! I'll try again, I know there have been updates since I tried it last.
The Monkey Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I left my briefcase at my parents' apartment this evening, which means I don't have my iPad--and won't until tomorrow. I actually miss it. Pathetic.

jvlgato Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Running SAS from the iPad. Parallels 6 and Parallels mobile FTMFW. Wow! That's impressive! Is this better than other VNC solutions you've used?
tyrion Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Cool use for the iPad: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/15/dining/15ipad.html?_r=1&emc=eta1 The restaurant in the article, Bones, is an excellent steakhouse in Atlanta.

Nice. Would like to see something similar for all sorts of liquor, plus cocktails. And I wonder if there is a version for consumers? Just checked, there are a few apps, but nothing I'd want to get. I'd consider an app if it was named 'The Reks-tron Guide to Fine Liquor'

Grahame Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 ^ Why does that remind me of something. Oh wait http://tech.spotcoolstuff.com/ultrathin-netbook/dell-adamo-xps-review
morphsci Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 (edited) Wow! That's impressive! Is this better than other VNC solutions you've used? Yes, when I want to connect directly to the virtual machine rather than the Mac itself. Plus it does not cost anything extra since the iPad app is free. Oh and the Drink-a-dex app for the iPad has a great selection of recipes. I sometimes go back to the actual books as it is light on pictures showing the presentation, but usually it is what I have been using lately. Edited September 16, 2010 by morphsci
The Monkey Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 Ok, still looking for a folio type case. What's best?

Eric5676 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Let me ask you all a question and I hope this isn't taken the wrong way: I know Apple has a great reputation and one of their biggest draws is to get away from the "glitchy" MS Windows and all the rest of it. I think Boot Camp and Parallels are brilliant to have but I'm wondering: Unless you're a PC gamer like I am...what would you really need to ever fire up Windows for anyways?

There are few apps out there that are Windows only. Also, at my work, we regularly use spreadsheets that contain Visual Basic components, which don't work on Office for OSX. So if I ever want to work on something for work (involving those spreadsheets) at home, I need to boot up Windows. Edited September 23, 2010 by Salt Peanuts

jvlgato Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 TUFKAAT - similar issue. I'm in healthcare, and have billing software that only runs on Windows. Also, I work part time for the Federal Gov't, and they have VPN client software which only runs on Windows.
