tyrion Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 We just added a Sonicwell access point in the office and it has extended the range to every corner of the office with a strong signal. I would love to put one in my house but it was a little over $400.
The Monkey Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Dinny I like the Belkin case quite a bit but I am no longer using it since getting the Defender case, If you would like to try it out let me know. Jeff, I'm thinking about going with the Defender. How do you like it? I seem to recall that you didn't like the Commuter. Is that correct?
VPI Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I love the Defender but it does add a lot of weight. We should do lunch and you can check it out.
tyrion Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I installed RDP Lite and I'm now able to access my office network from anywhere. I'm sure it will be a blessing and a curse.
The Monkey Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I love the Defender but it does add a lot of weight. We should do lunch and you can check it out. Thanks Jeff. Lunch is a good idea. But you know I'm far too impulsive to wait until then to order goodies. The Defender will arrive in East Hampton tomorrow.
VPI Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 It is really quite nice. I greatly prefer it to the version for my iPhone.
The Monkey Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Cool. Jack has taken a real liking to the iPad, so it needs protection from his 4 year old ways.
recstar24 Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Sorry to beat a dead horse Shelly but the extreme solved all my link sys range and dropping issues and then some. It really is fantastic as a wireless router and am ok with its decent hard drive sharing performance.
shellylh Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 I will find if the Extreme helps me tonight.... got it in the mail this afternoon.
The Monkey Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 The Defender case is no joke. Nice fit and finish, although the screen film thing is a pain in the ass to get on and I can see a piece of lint under it despite my heroic efforts. Regardless, this will be a good family travel case, which is what I was looking for. Next will be a case similar to the Apple one, but you know, better.
VPI Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 I didn't even use the screen protector on mine. You will also have to work with the stand a bit to loosen it up as mine was very tight when I first got it.
shellylh Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Update: The extreme helped my wireless range. I can now happily type away in bed on the ipad. I am sure my partner will be thrilled.
jvlgato Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Update: The extreme helped my wireless range. I can now happily type away in bed on the ipad. I am sure my partner will be thrilled. Good news! Perhaps your partner needs an iPad!?
Absorbine_Sr Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Update: The extreme helped my wireless range. I can now happily type away in bed on the ipad. I am sure my partner will be thrilled. Cool.
VPI Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 iOS 4.02 for iPad write up. Wireless Printing and streaming to the Apple TV the biggest things. Apple Details Features in iOS 4.2 for iPad - Mac Rumors
grawk Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 hopefully airplay can use the ipad and ipod/iphone as a destination in addition to as a source...
VPI Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 That would be nice. I know the intended purpose is to fulfill the source category as shown in the presentation of the Apple TV but you never know how they will implement it. I am hoping it comes before November.
morphsci Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Cool. The multitasking will be nice but for me the wireless printing will be the biggest improvement.
Smeggy Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 I want a BTstack supporting mice included to make vnc operations easier.
blessingx Posted September 3, 2010 Author Report Posted September 3, 2010 hopefully airplay can use the ipad and ipod/iphone as a destination in addition to as a source... If not, what about Airfoil Speakers Touch (though pretty useless on iPad until multitasking appears).
grawk Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 I'm not looking for solutions, just expressing that I want apple to include it in the OS
jvlgato Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Or you could just use serve-to-me. ^Streamtome? Anyone else used this? I love the idea, but the sound quality seems lacking somehow.
morphsci Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 I'm not looking for solutions, just expressing that I want apple to include it in the OS That would be nice and will probably occur based upon the direction they seem to be going. ^Streamtome? Anyone else used this? I love the idea, but the sound quality seems lacking somehow. iPad end = stream-to-me. Mac/PC end = serve-to-me. Seems OK to me, especially when using camera adaptor and Pico DAC/amp.
