blessingx Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 Mind if I ask what's everyones initial thoughts about the iPads size for this in-between space? A bit small/big or just right?
jp11801 Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I could have gone for slightly larger screen size, Apple probably considered the size of the pad vs weight given you have to hold it or balance it to prop it up. Last night I watched like 5 episodes of Dollhouse on netflix instant and thought the quality was fantastic
tyrion Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I think it's about right for me. My biggest gripe is the inability to chat on HC.

shellylh Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I think the size is good. I would have preferred it to be slightly lighter though. Making it lighter probably would have required a shorter battery life though.

shellylh Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Using the ipad as a recipe book is pretty handy. (I couldn't manage to get a decent picture of the screen unfortunately.)
Hopstretch Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Using the ipad as a recipe book is pretty handy. (I couldn't manage to get a decent picture of the screen unfortunately.) Do you have the Epicurious app? It's great! Have been doing some reading on it today and I'm pretty happy with it in that regard. The iBook store sucks pretty badly at this point, though I'm sure it will improve with time. It's hard to find things and there aren't enough subcategories to really drill down to your interest. The same applies, in a slightly lesser degree, to the App Store.
grawk Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 It's just not for browsing. Find books you want, then check in the ibook store and in the kindle store, and get it wherever it's cheaper
Hopstretch Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I like to browse. A store that cant manage to sell people anything they didn't come there to buy in the first place isn't a very good store.
grawk Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I am a male shopper, I buy stuff because I want it, I don't want the store to convince me
Grahame Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 It's just not for browsing. There *should* be an app for that! or you could try this: AddALL Ebook price comparison - MetaEbooks.com

tyrion Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) Do you have the Epicurious app? It's great! I use the app all the time. Is anyone having wifi issues? Mine seems to be pretty fast most of the time and other times seems to get hung up. While the signal out back has never been strong, it see s to weaker with the iPad. Edited April 4, 2010 by tyrion
shellylh Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Do you have the Epicurious app? It's great! Now I do, thanks. well fuck, i guess i know where my money is gonna go once i get sick of buying camera crap. can you easily set it to not dim the screen? i wouldn't want to paw the screen when my hands are covered in flour and goat offal. You can set auto-lock to "never" but I don't know if this will keep the screen from dimming. I should check into this since it is annoying to have to turn the screen back on. Cornering the world market for bitters? Yes. I use the app all the time. Is anyone having wifi issues? Mine seems to be pretty fast most of the time and other times seems to get hung up. While the signal out back has never been strong, it see s to weaker with the iPad. No wifi issues here that I have noticed. By the way, does anyone know if the "old" dock connectors (the "bigger" ones - like the one I got my ipod classic 6G) can be used with the ipad. Is there a difference between size?
grawk Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 i can't get it to stick to a network long enough to actually play the scrabble game. It doesn't impact most things, but scrabble drops out.
VPI Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I have had no wifi issues on four different wireless networks.
thrice Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I have not had trouble with my home network. See what happens at work tomorrow.
