CarlSeibert Posted September 14, 2009 Author Report Posted September 14, 2009 I think you can still do better at Headphone Solutions and some other places. Quote
darthsilverice Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 I don't know if this helps but Northern Light and Sound sells this for $116.85. You must email them for a price quote. They are also an authorized dealer of Shure. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 The 840? Not the 240 or the 440? Zzounds has it for $199.99, and they're usually a pretty good indicator of the price to beat. Quote
darthsilverice Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 SRH840 for sure unless they messed up. I can forward you the email they've sent me if you want. Quote
boomana Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 I emailed Northern Lights and Sound for a price quote. If they are $116, I'll be buying a pair. My boss, who was killed a couple weeks ago in a motorcycle accident, was wanting to buy headphones for his son, who was just getting into music listening and also mixing on his computer, and asking me about different choices. I know he didn't have the chance to follow through, so I'd at least like to do that for him. I'll let folks know if that's a real deal or not. Quote

Hi Vicki, I would be happy to give you my pair to give to him if you cannot get a good price. That is truly an awful situation. I know getting a pair of headphones doesn't really erase the fact... boomana Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 Shelly, thanks, but I got it covered. I was going to get the V6s, but I think he'd like these better as overall headphones, and the kid (16) deserves new headphones his friends will be jealous over. Quote
darthsilverice Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 For anyone interested, I can forward you the northern light and sound price quote. It was sent to me on Sept. 24 and is valid for 15 days. However, I do think they are out of stock like everyone else, but you can probably still order and get that price. Dusty_chalk already has a copy of the email so you can also ask him if you want. I emailed Northern Lights and Sound for a price quote. If they are $116, I'll be buying a pair. boomana Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 I just ordered two. $116.85 is, indeed, the price, but the headphones are backordered, and they don't plan on shipping until October 9-ish. Quote

I have a Go-vibe Martini from CanJam I won't be using that I think he'll like. Quote
n_maher Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 Ok V, let me know if there is anything you need like a mini-mini or something. Quote
boomana Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 That's a maybe. I'll look what I have. I don't even know if he has an ipod or another kind of dap. Quote
mrarroyo Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 Vicky if he needs a line out for an iPod let me know I have one I can donate. Quote
boomana Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Hi, Miguel. Thanks. I'll let you know. Quote
Edwood Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 I beta tested the SRH840. I really liked them. For $116.85, it's a must buy. The heavy coiled cable is really obnoxious. That would be the first thing I'd swap out for an upgrade. Quote

It is better to get a new shiny object anyway. Just wanted to offer in case there was a really long wait on them. As for the sound, I still wish the sounded a little more open, but for the price, they are very good. They are really great at isolating and not leaking sound. They also sound better than I remember them at CanJam. I would love to swap out the cable for a straight one though! Quote
ting.mike Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Anyone compare the SRH840 to HD25-1? Quote
shellylh Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 The Shure's are better in my opinion, especially out of an ipod - although I haven't listened to the HD-25's in a while. Quote
jinp6301 Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Hmm, if theyre better, I might "downgrade" from my ESW9s. Anyone heard both? Quote
shellylh Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Hmm, if theyre better, I might "downgrade" from my ESW9s. Anyone heard both? Unless you need more isolation, I wouldn't sell off the ESW9's just yet. Quote
Fungi Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Anyone compare the SRH840 to HD25-1? Yeah, I was never a big fan of the HD25-1's sound, but portability wise they're hard to beat. I have no problems tossing them in my bag for travels and the isolation isn't bad. SRH840 is a much better headphone (for sound) IMO. Quote
My_potpie Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Hmmmm, these may be on the list to try out soon. Quote
boomana Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I got mine today and sold them an hour later. I think they're quite nice for the price, and will recommend them, but I really can't listen to them. A co-worker fell in love with them, though, so that was that. Win-win. Quote
