screaming oranges Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 I am asking because my brother pointed this out to me: PayPal Adds Fees, Sneakily - PC World I will still use paypal, I guess. But just want to know if there are more options.
tkam Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 There's google checkout but I think their fees now pretty much equal paypals
Dusty Chalk Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 "We weren't really adding any fees." Uh, yes you were. I hate paypal. Still use it, but fucking hate it. I keep forgetting that I hate it, and go back to using it, and then something like this comes up. Doesn't really affect me, but just reminds me how much I hate it. There are plenty of other options. Western Union has a "send money with a credit card service"; you can always send a check or money order; there are escrow services (wherein both parties send money and merchandise to a trusted, disinterested third party, and after they receive both and payment for their services, they send both to their respective recipients).
Quadrangulum Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 PayPal has a host of other shitty practices like capricious account freezing. I'd ditch it in a heartbeat if I could but since eBay owns PayPal and pushes hard for its usage and since it is far and away the most common form of internet payment, there really is no alternative in my opinion.
grawk Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 paying in cash in person is better, otherwise, paypal is imho the best option. Just realize that paypal isn't there for your protection.
