kevin gilmore Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 So the real solution here is to send all the boards to Justin and have him do the assembly? Sounds like a plan... I think that justin's board stuffing rates have just gone up. I wonder if he would accept $100 an hour for this kind of pain
spritzer Posted December 12, 2009 Author Report Posted December 12, 2009 Sounds reasonable. I'll probably spend that much just on customs fees for the parts...
nattonrice Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 What is Iceland's threshold for import tax? Australia's is aud$1000 which seems like a lot until you actually try to import something audio related
spritzer Posted December 13, 2009 Author Report Posted December 13, 2009 No threshold and roughly 70% tax on anything audio related.
nattonrice Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Gah that's pretty bad... Maybe you can lie and say that your building a replica soviet era coffee maker? =)

spritzer Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 Gah that's pretty bad... Maybe you can lie and say that your building a replica soviet era coffee maker? =) They would probably charge me extra for that.

cetoole Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Looking good. Holy cow that is a big board, gotta question if that would even fit my flip rack.
kevin gilmore Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Front feet to back feet about 13.5 inches Chassis front to chassis back 16.75
spritzer Posted December 16, 2009 Author Report Posted December 16, 2009 I also get some sick pleasure for reusing SP crapola in my amps. The latest prototype has filament wiring, terminal strips and capacitor clamps all rescued from the ES-1.
swt61 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Damn that's awesome! I know of some nice Stax jacks.
n_maher Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Looking good. Holy cow that is a big board, gotta question if that would even fit my flip rack. Shit I hope so, that was kind of the plan when the rack makes its way home next year.
cetoole Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Nate, its gonna be close, not sure it will work. The 16.5" part is OK, but it better not be any more than about 10.5" in the other dimension.
kevin gilmore Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 The boxes are 16.5 deep and 15.5 wide ! Bottom feet are at about 10 inches x 13.5 inches. When you see the power supply stuffed, you will know why it has to be this big.
spritzer Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 Hell look at the cramped T2 and see why it has to be this big.
nattonrice Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Pfft just 'cause you don't like your eggs over-easy...
kevin gilmore Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 power supply boards just arrived. and all other parts are on order (i think) (i certainly hope so)
Voltron Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 When should we be sending you money, Dr. G?
kevin gilmore Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 After the prototype is done and working, i will send 5 sets of chassis parts to be finished, then order some more front/back material as i only have enough of that for the first 8 units. If you want some other color than black, i can ship you the stuff unfinished and you can find someone to finish it to your liking. For those that want a jump start, i can sell board sets now... But really i don't need any money till i'm ready to ship stuff.
kevin gilmore Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Board set will be $160 total plus shipping.
kevin gilmore Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Anyone know of rational pricing on wire?? Want 11 different colors, each 20awg, 600volt or cable with 15 wires in it, each 20awg 600volt each amp would use about 10 feet total of 15 wires...
spritzer Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 For 22AWG/600V this is hard to resist (I've ordered 3 times already), they also have a 18AWG listing.
