Milosz Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 OK, max about ~1.25 in-lbs, then. This is 20 inch ounces, which is what my torque screwdriver is calibrated in. So I'll set it to 18 or so, that should give me a little margin, and still be pretty tight. Many thanks.
chinsettawong Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 I'm not sure if the 2sk216 that I bought off Ebay are real. What do you think? Is there any simple way to test to see if they are real or fake?
luvdunhill Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 Yeah, the test is simple. If you bought them on Ebay, they are fake.
Inu Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 It looks remarked on 2SK213,214,215 or counterfeit. 1. Hitachi logo is slightly different. 2. Date code format is strange. “912”? Probably they misread “9 I2” (9=1989 or 1999 I =Sep) when they copied. 3. Font is same as my other counterfeit transistors.
Inu Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 The fake K216(left)in the picture is from Israel. Seems he is getting different version of K216 from HKG distributor now. https://picasaweb.go...263986452551218 Simple test: Use it to the T2: If blowup it was fake, stop use it.
chinsettawong Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Well, thanks for confirming they are fake. I'll just order new ones then. Could you recommend a good and reliable source to order from? Wachara C.
ujamerstand Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 I can tell you to avoid utsource. The K216 they sent me were different from their image on the website, and were clearly counterfeit.

Is there any simple way to test to see if they are real or fake? The logo looks fake to me. Real Hitachi logos don't look like that. That looks laser-etched, and they didn't get the logo right. Google image search "hitachi transistor" and compare, I don't see any logos that look like that one. I wonder if there is a way to contact Hitachi, you'd think they'd be interested in fighting counterfeits- although maybe at this low level it might be below their radar.
luvdunhill Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Hitachi doesn't make these devices anymore, I would doubt that they would care at all.
chinsettawong Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 I've just placed an order with Pacificsemi, and I hope I get the real things this time.
ujamerstand Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) No. Pacificsemi has fakes as well. They are tempered devices that have the front scrubbed and reprinted. Cancel your order! The same treatment has been applied to both J74 and K216, so I'm guessing both stock are fakes. Edited September 1, 2011 by ujamerstand
n3rdling Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Damnit I just ordered all those transistors from there last night. sent them an email we'll see what happens.
deepak Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 I have an inquiry in with a Renesas distributor (they will be buying them direct from Renesas, so they will be genuine), they said they will get back to me on the minimum purchase quantity for K216 and J79. If it's not too big I can do a GB for these parts.
Kerry Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Would definitely be interested in that. Thanks Deepak.
spritzer Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 Ditto. One can never have too many parts...
ujamerstand Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Hopefully Renesas' minimum purchase quantity ain't too bad.
n3rdling Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Also interested. I got my order cancelled thankfully
Horio Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) Definitely put me down for a K216/J79 GB. You rock sir. Edited September 1, 2011 by Horio
Pars Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Anyone doing a dynafet from the latest GB might also be interested in those...
cobra_kai Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 I'd be interested in the group buy as well
chinsettawong Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Please put me down in the GB also. Thanks a lot. Wachara C.
chinsettawong Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 Just received an email from Pacificsemi confirming that they have shipped out 2sk216. It's too late to cancel the order with them now.
livewire Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 I'm also interested in a GB for the unobtanium T2 sand.
deepak Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 I'll let people know, but I have a sinking feeling I will get a reply saying minimum quantity they can order from Renesas will be 1000 or more.
