Kerry Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Here's another seller that I've used. They have reasonable selection of hook-up wire if you poke around their store. 20-AWG Mil-Spec Wire 9-Colors 10-Ft-Each, 90-Ft-Total - eBay (item 230414847920 end time Jan-19-10 15:49:38 PST) I've bought some 22-awg silver plated hookup wire from them recently.
kevin gilmore Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 (edited) Thanks kerry, that is exactly what i'm looking for. I'll use normal stuff for the filaments. Edited December 23, 2009 by kevin gilmore
spritzer Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 I do have a lot of ES-1 wire left and solid core is great for filaments. It's also supposed to be pure silver...
swt61 Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 The story I got was that it was once Prince Edward's personal tea set.

Pars Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Must be nice not having a home decorating unit (HDU) around to nix working on the living room floor Those umbilicals look like fun...
Kerry Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Yeah, I don't know why it is so painful to solder the umbilical cords / connectors. Very nice job though http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/t2chassis22.jpg http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/t2chassis23.jpg I hate soldering these cables. 4.5 hours so far on the 3 of the 4 sets

OH are you wrong. Thats the floor in my office. The living room floor is one inch thick solid oak. Scratching that would be a really bad idea. I'm a slob and i can prove it... spritzer Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 Holy crap!!! Any particular reason why you hanging onto a 10+ year old Creative DVD drive or two?
kevin gilmore Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Holy crap!!! Any particular reason why you hanging onto a 10+ year old Creative DVD drive or two? Warning, don't do this unless you know what you are doing. At one time i had a couple dozen of those. I take them apart for the laser diode, which on the creative phase rewriters are about 400mw... I make very dangerous laser pointers out of them. These days, i do the same thing with 1 watt green diodes.
spritzer Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 Hmmm I should have a couple of those sitting around somewhere... *evil scheme brewing*

nattonrice Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 That's a very big apple. But the red based thing to the bottom left of the apple that looks like a tachyon cannon is even better =D

kevin gilmore Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 machined from a solid piece of teflon, will add the mounting holes tomorrow and make a batch. Hole diameter is 18mm which exactly matches the he90 jack so everything will be symetrical. http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/staxjack1.jpg http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/staxjack2.jpg http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/staxjack3.jpg
luvdunhill Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 machined from a solid piece of teflon, will add the mounting holes tomorrow and make a batch looks very nice! Will you cut them apart after the fact and program an array?
Dusty Chalk Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 You know, that'd actually be pretty cool if he didn't (cut them apart). (I fully expect a "oh, that's just stupid, you can't do that, you'd cut off all the breathing from anything underneath it...". But still, it'd be neat looking.)
kevin gilmore Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 looks very nice! Will you cut them apart after the fact and program an array? That is exactly what i'm trying to do right now. First two tries at replication ended up with the parts on top of each other.
Beefy Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 HEH, those pins look familiar...... I think I like the larger diameter of Marc's jacks a lot better, but the all-in-one construction on Kevin's version is great.
luvdunhill Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 That is exactly what i'm trying to do right now. First two tries at replication ended up with the parts on top of each other. is this g code? or is there a special way to do step and repeat?
Nomad Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Is this what you are looking for? Rapid Electronics - Cables & Connectors Sorry, only UK... And they seem quite expensive... Hey, Birgir just point me to this thread, after a long absence in which I missed all this (horrendous timing, really). I think he is hoping that I won't kill him for tracking down a T2 and not telling me. He is so wrong... I'm just waiting for him to finish all his projected DIYs... (actually, that might not work for me... I'm likely to end dying first of old age). Anyway... this is about the "only UK" comment. Living here, I would be happy to help with any component that might be sourced only in UK. Now or in the future. Just let me know. Cheers and good luck. I'll keep going through the thread now.
spritzer Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 Guess I'll have to sleep with a knife under my pillow now. Stupid gun laws...
