aardvark baguette Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 linkage Please understand that $1,000,000 buys one speaker, so you'll need to shell out $2,000,000 for stereo, and at least five million for your Ultimate home theater. The Ultimate is a rather large speaker--each one consists of six, seven-foot tall panels. Each Ultimate houses a total of forty 15-inch subwoofers, twenty-four 8-inch woofers, and massive arrays of 2-inch wide and 1-inch wide ribbon tweeters. All of this is for a single channel/speaker, double those numbers for stereo! A pair of Ultimates are nearly forty feet wide! If TKAM or any mods want to post the HC amazon link for them here feel free.
Hopstretch Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Better writeup and pictures here. Hey, if you have a 50 foot-wide room, why not?
Dusty Chalk Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 they really call that one speaker? And it's only a 4-way design. They have something smaller called a "mini ultimate", but where's the conspicuous consumption in that? I wonder how it's loaded. Looks to be just open baffle.
manaox2 Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 A forty foot wall o' ribbon speakers.... What would be properly amplify such a thing? I'm guessing many amps.
Dreadhead Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 It comes with amps. Oh that makes the price seem a lot more reasonable
crappyjones123 Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 for a stereo config, how big of a room would be required/adequate for these speakers?
Dusty Chalk Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 for a stereo config, how big of a room would be required/adequate for these speakers?Let's put it this way -- if you have to ask, probably bigger.
Fitz Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Question... does it have a built-in ipod dock?
swt61 Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Question... does it have a built-in ipod dock? Well yeah, but not for the entry level price of $2,000,000.00. That's a $500,000.00 add on. Sheesh don't be a cheap bastard.
