Guest sachu Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 The frames are honestly not too bad at all. I have a good seal around my ears..they are amazingly comfortable.. Pros: Amazing soundstage..ala ESP950 style I love the highs..again ESP950 like..very lively (compared to my orthos) Incredibly fast. The bass seems to have increased in quantity since i last heard them. The quality too is fast..almost too fast. I would like it if the bass notes could decay a bit slower. It has the impact that my vintage orthos have except for the fast decay which makes all the difference for someone like me. Very well balanced straight out of the box across the freq spectrum. It is really comfortable. Cons: Fast decay on the low freqs. Details in the highs are slightly muted. Mids are a bit too forwardish for my tastes and I do like my mids forward. What does it all mean: Audeze has made a great product for a really good price even considering the frame they have used. Seems like some are having fit issues..none of which I seem to have. And the cons are not really cons..these are things taht can be tuned/fine tuned with damping which should make this a bargain. I am going to be very sad to see these headphones go. But I know I wil have a pair of the Audeze based headphones in my lineup in the future. Damn you Smeggy for tempting me with your AKG K1000.
Sherwood Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Whoah, wait, the super great sounding pair? Smeggy, you didn't!
Guest sachu Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Whoah, wait, the super great sounding pair? Smeggy, you didn't! heh..yes he did. Now you know what I sold my brand new Audezes..Wouldn't have done so for any other headphone.
catscratch Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 heh..yes he did. Hopefully the funds are going towards the O2 Mk1?
DefectiveAudioComponent Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Not having even received my LCD-1 I feel left behind in the speed of events here. One brand new LCD-1 already on the second hand market. Did I make a mistake ordering one? (I'lll soon hear for myself, but why not worry while there is still time to do so?)

Dude..be assured that it wasn't a mistake. Its a great headphone. No doubt about it.
Smeggy Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 nope, I'll be getting a set, NoNoNoNoNoNo has another set of drivers coming so no need to worry, we just needed to do some switching and swapping to make certain things happen. Purely a case of ill-timing
DefectiveAudioComponent Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 The rumor said they would only make 25 of the LCD-1. I wonder if that's still the case (if it was true), and how many they sold. Did anyone hear anything about it?
Icarium Posted August 15, 2009 Author Report Posted August 15, 2009 I think they sold all of them very quickly but due to a few cancellations last I heard they had a couple left... they may or may not do a few more batches I don't know.
morphsci Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Damn, these sound even better than I remember from CanJam. I'm listening to the new Patterson Hood and the LCD-1's are conveying just the right amount of grunginess and down home southern kick-you-in-the-ass rock!
Icarium Posted August 19, 2009 Author Report Posted August 19, 2009 Yeah.. they do improve quite a bit with burn in. Waiting for the balancing act to come before doing a full on shootout with the rest of my crap. I like it.. a great value at what it costed and performs decent for a sub 1k headphone.

This is NoNoNoNoNoNo's "old" pair, so it should have a little burn-in already. Right now I'm playing it off the AA HPA V.1.0 and it sounds good but I would really like to hear it on a BA in a quiet setting.
Guest sachu Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Hope you are enjoying it. They are quite something else.
morphsci Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Yes I am. But why the sad face? I hear tell you have a new toy.
Icarium Posted August 19, 2009 Author Report Posted August 19, 2009 Should get it balanced I think it does make a difference.. not a huge one, but given that you will be balanced dynafet and BA'd up Why not. Amp brother!
GPH Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Thanks for the impressions guys, keep 'em coming. Any of you tried the LCD-1 with symphonic music? Sounds like it'd be a good match with some of the characteristics I've read (rich mids, good soundstage, non-peaky highs)...
Icarium Posted August 19, 2009 Author Report Posted August 19, 2009 Listening to some Mahler right now.. seems to check out But I'm not ultra familiar with it or anything. The soundstaging meshes very well with symphonic music, but lack of familiarity means I can't speak to say tone.
philodox Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Five pages and no pics. What. The. Fuck?
Icarium Posted August 19, 2009 Author Report Posted August 19, 2009 I took some but I'm a shitty photographer with a shitty camera.. there are some nice pics in the norcal meet pics on this site and head-fi though that do a much better job.
morphsci Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Five pages and no pics. What. The. Fuck? This is from the CanJam thread. Current model is essentially the same with a few minor differences. Fuck. The. What.
philodox Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Ah, I saw that but didn't realize it was the LCD-1. What is the little thingy on top?
luvdunhill Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 mine just arrived! Frame is much nicer than it looks in the pics. Much easier to drive than I imagined. Good attention to driver to ear placement. Comfortable. I have a small gap where I always have a gap, behind my ear and down a bit, but hard to say if this is a big deal (it is on the SR-007 for example) What looks to be a lack of decent strain relief on the drivers is a bit worrisome, but I haven't opened them up, just peeked in the hole. Cable... who provided input on this? Sorry, fail. Ok, queuing the test material up
Guest sachu Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Cable... who provided input on this? Sorry, fail. Ok, queuing the test material up They used Mogami alright..just not the right one..they used the really thick variety...should've been the more flexible 2893
Voltron Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Ah, I saw that but didn't realize it was the LCD-1. What is the little thingy on top? Did you notice the same pic on PAGE 1 of this thread?
dBel84 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Ok, queuing the test material up keeping us in suspense eh ..dB
