manaox2 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 The trick is to have a hot guy and gal in every class who always attend, then everyone would attend. "Hi class. I was just thinking. I do wish one or two of the guys or gals that showed up here were attractive. You know, just so that more people would want to attend."
Dusty Chalk Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I was thinking more along the lines of androids. Or hired actors.
manaox2 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I was thinking more along the lines of androids. Or hired actors. I personally wish more teachers were more attractive. And/or cool. No offense to the professor crowd here.
Wmcmanus Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 86% of the students who attended got a B or higher. 13% of those who didnt got a B or higher. take that however you like. personally, id rather have students who care to learn in my class. That pretty much sums up the main point I was trying to make, but because I teach at a small college with class sizes of 5 to 15, I'm now forcing them to be in class, whereas I would have never even considered such a thing when I was teaching 420 students at U of Kansas way back when. We actually needed at least 8% not to show up in order for everyone to have a seat.
Wmcmanus Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 I personally wish more teachers were more attractive. And/or cool. No offense to the professor crowd here. That's always been my style. If your class is fun and you joke around a little and allow students to do the same, it relieves a lot of pressure. Of course, there is a balance that you have to draw somewhere.
screaming oranges Posted November 6, 2009 Author Report Posted November 6, 2009 I was fully refunded for the Divertr, since they could not do an orange anodizing in time (though they did have other colors available). To me, it was either orange or bust. They were very polite, courteous, and super fast in honoring my request. I got the funds back in 15 mins. There won't be one at the meet now, obviously.
Hopstretch Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 But you can run a garden hose into it! Yes, that's a USB cable.
cetoole Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Probably needs the extra width to get all the bits though it that 24/96 requires.
Grahame Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 I guess it prevents the bits being naughty
boomana Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 So I was planning on retiring my SP/R10 rig from meets, since I'm both lazy and also don't want to move it more than necessary. However, Colin mentioned the possibility of opening it up there, and I'd welcome that opportunity, so I might consider bringing it. If I did, what the heck things would I need to buy/bring to do the job? I own a hammer, a wrench, a drill and a couple screwdrivers. Though that might be fun, I'm looking for suggestions that might allow me to continue using the amp after the meet.
guzziguy Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 It can vary, but typically you need a 1/16" hex wrench to remove the 4 bolts that hold the bottom to the top. Just turn the amp over, remove the 4 bolts and remove the bottom. All of the guts are attached to the top.
spritzer Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 If you can open it up and take pics then we should be able to see what needs to be done. The screws are probably very well fixed in place (he put some adhesive on them so that nobody could open them up) so I'd buy a few 1/16" hex keys since you bound to destroy at least one. Some pliers also help.
boomana Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Which one of you guys has a decent camera? I doubt my iphone will do the trick. I wonder if my power supply is a couple wall warts.
spritzer Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 I wouldn't expect wallwarts but a whole other league of crap is certainly a possibility based on what we've seen from other Extremes.
tyrion Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 I'll bring my camera, which is decent and should do the trick.
boomana Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Thanks, Mike. So I guess I'm bringing the Denon/SP/R10 rig, which will be its last outing.

Some pliers also help. Mine wasn't that hard to open once I realized that one of the screws wasn't 1/16". I can't remember for sure but think it was the closest metric size to 1/16". The writing on the hex key was too small for my old eyes to read.
agile_one Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 So I guess I'm bringing the Denon/SP/R10 rig, which will be its last outing. A farewell tour, eh? Maybe we should make a little pedestal or altar for that rig to properly pay homage to it's last public appearance?
boomana Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 A farewell tour, eh? Maybe we should make a little pedestal or altar for that rig to properly pay homage to it's last public appearance? I'm afraid to think about what you guys would come up with.
manaox2 Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 I'm afraid to think about what you guys would come up with. I'm sure it will be sufficiently phallic for all.
nikongod Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 I am also very curious to see what is going on inside vicky's extreme. If there is room in the vicky-mobile, I would advise bringing the drill & 1/8 & 3/16" bits. My luck cracking extremes has not been as good as others. I always need to drill out one or 2 of the screws. I'l send a replacement set of filips head screws ahead of time so I cant forget them.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 I think the idea was to get pictures of it before the meet, so as to help decide whether or not to bring it to the meet, and therefore to know what tools to bring.
screaming oranges Posted November 8, 2009 Author Report Posted November 8, 2009 hell, I need to open mine too. Maybe between Vicky's Plat and mine we can build half a decent Extreme. ha!
cetoole Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Vicki, do you have a multimeter you could bring? If not, it doesnt look like the TSA has any limitations with taking those carryon. Also, do you have the big plitron in yours?
