grawk Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 If you can get spdif from your dvd-a or sacd player, there's nothing to stop you capturing the signal with the appropriate hardware and software Quote
Grahame Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) DVD-Audio Explorer vs DVD-Audio * Analog hole * Or DVD-Audio Decoder and Watermark Detector plugin with foobar2000 (windows only) to drive USB dac? Edited March 22, 2010 by Grahame add dvdadecoder/foobar2000 option Quote
padam Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I've been offered a CA 840C locally for ~750 USD, now that seems a killer price in my book (especially that we have taxes here in the EU as well), now could anybody tell me what can I expect compared to the D/AC 1600HD (which I really like)? Is it better or worse? I know once it was highly regarded (at least as a CD player, not as a standalon DAC), is it still good? Thanks!! Quote

Never heard it myself, but have seen many good things written about it compared to other options in the price range. At the very least, I'm pretty sure you could on-sell it without making a loss...... Quote
padam Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I need to sell the Parasound to my friend to get it, if it is a downgrade compared to that then I will not do it cause it is unlikely that I'll find an 1600HD again that I would buy that is why I asked. Maybe later on if it is still available. Quote
Beefy Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I need to sell the Parasound to my friend to get it Ah, much tougher decision then I suspect few here would recommend selling a good rare DAC for a newer 'commodity' item. Quote
