The Monkey Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I know everyone is like soo over the HD800 -- gag me with a JH13 -- but these puppies are wicked with a good analog source. That slightly clinical edge is perfectly set off by the more natural and energetic presentation you can get from vinyl. In fact, for the first time, I prefer listening to the Senns over the Quads. They grew balls, Dinny! I'm going to have kuboten send an O2 to your house COD. It's good to hear that your 800's balls dropped. After spending a lot of time with the HF-2 and the Headphiled HD650, I do miss the speed, resolution, and bassial (that's a made up word) accuracy of the 800. Overall, my impression of the 800 as the best dynamic can out there has not changed. Sounds like I need to check them out on a vinyl rig, but that's a slippery slope.
Dusty Chalk Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I will own a pair someday. Headphones too (!)I don't get it. No, seriously, I lollered.
Hopstretch Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Sounds like I need to check them out on a vinyl rig, but that's a slippery slope. At the risk of sounding like somebody's uncle -- vinyl, tubes and Sennheiser!
Hopstretch Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 or digital, SS and Sennheiser Only under laboratory conditions.
Grahame Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Or summing a sample of posts here, alcohol, your mom, JH-13's
Hopstretch Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 alcohol, your mom, JH-13s I'll take "Things Everyone Here Will Overdo Eventually" for $100, Alex.
postjack Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 the HD650s are also outstanding with vinyl. much bigger difference between vinyl and digital then with other cans.
The Monkey Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I'm ready for the HD900's and JH-26 Both sound great.
Augsburger Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Both sound great. But only when sourced through the Buffalo 64.............
screaming oranges Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Brent had that setup when I went to visit him. He also taught me some tips on how he got so ripped.
kelvinz Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Wot no O3s? whoa whoa whoa I didn't want to get that crazy maybe O2 MKIII?
spritzer Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Mk3 with the improved parts but the sound of the Mk1...
luvdunhill Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Mk3 with the improved parts but the sound of the Mk1... Mk1 + Mk2 = Mk3. That's what I have then
spritzer Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I thought you had a BL with Mk2 pads? There is more to the Mk2 then just the pads...
luvdunhill Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I thought you had a BL with Mk2 pads? There is more to the Mk2 then just the pads... yup, Mk1 + Mk2 (pads) = Mk3 The pads are the really useful part from the Mk2 though
Deadneddz Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 The pads are the really useful part from the Mk2 though I'm sure you won't be saying that if you accidentally step on your MK1 cable while wearing them and they detach from the housing.
deepak Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I'm sure you won't be saying that if you accidentally step on your MK1 cable while wearing them and they detach from the housing. Oohh nice one way to put fear in every mk1 owner's head
Duggeh Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I'm sure you won't be saying that if you accidentally step on your MK1 cable while wearing them and they detach from the housing. This is why I coil my O2 cable into the desk and never trail it on the floor and up.
deepak Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Also the SRE-725 aids in alleviating some phear
The Monkey Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Oohh nice one way to put fear in every mk1 owner's head I live in perpetual fear of doing that.
spritzer Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 yup, Mk1 + Mk2 (pads) = Mk3 The pads are the really useful part from the Mk2 though I do like the new cable entry (sans port naturally) and the snug fit of the new headpad but then again I have a massive head. I'd say a modded mk2 is the mk3 though...
The Monkey Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I like the fit 'n' finish of the mk2 very much. A lot more comfortable, IMO. I did not find the 800 to be as comfortable as I had hoped. The earpads are great, but I don't like the headband.
