Dusty Chalk Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 For those of you who don't frequent Head-Fi, someone posted that Oldies.com is having a fantasy warehouse clearance sale similar to that other one. Some of them are SACD's, but don't just search on the text "SACD", as not all of them are correctly identified. Ends Wednesday.
blessingx Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Thanks Dusty. Picked up a dozen K2s. Seems the sale is still on.
Augsburger Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Yes it is and the vinyl is not too shabby either. Some of the 200g vinyl is the same price as anywhere else though, but it still won't stop me from ordering next week after I pick up some Bordeauxs Reks found for me.
blessingx Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 And the cassettes too! Audio Cassettes : OLDIES.com Maybe most interesting they have a "Bargain/Priceless" category.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 13, 2009 Author Report Posted August 13, 2009 Sorry to those who have already ordered, but (some of?) these are cutouts. At that price, I don't care, it's still a great price; but if you do...sorry.
guzziguy Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 The 10 CDs and 1 SACD that I ordered arrived yesterday. All of them were cutouts. While it doesn't matter to me, I was wondering if anybody got a non-cutout from this sale?
Augsburger Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 The 10 CDs and 1 SACD that I ordered arrived yesterday. All of them were cutouts. While it doesn't matter to me, I was wondering if anybody got a non-cutout from this sale? I ordered thirty and they were all cutouts, for some reason I think that is part of why they can offer them for so low and not piss off the manufacturers. Aesthetically not the best but for SACD, K2 20 bit, RVG, and OJCs for an average $5, I can live with that and will buy more if they offer more of what I need/want.
blessingx Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 Guess that's the reason for the "Fantasy Warehouse Clearance Sale product may be specifically marked for one-way sale" listing on each CD detail. No biggie for me. They can lose the whole packaging for the right price. Anyway, thanks again for posting the sale.
bperboy Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Ahh, I see. A big 100+ cd lot that I got off of eBay for about $30 shipped had quite a few of these.
Augsburger Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Often times a music company cuts out the cd case or a vinyl album cover on promos to prevent them from being resold. These were probably cut to prevent them from being resold or to placate the record lable. I doubt these were promos.
Voltron Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Do they do it like magazine/book sellers for overstock? I think they rip off the covers and send them to the publisher, then they can sell the remnants at reduced cost or get rid of them.
riceboy Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Thanks Dusty. Placed another order with them for moar CDs
zippy2001 Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Do they do it like magazine/book sellers for overstock? I think they rip off the covers and send them to the publisher, then they can sell the remnants at reduced cost or get rid of them. Yes, cutouts are usually older titles that have been deleted from the catalog and the label just wants to get rid of the last of the inventory. They are also for promotional use (mainly if they run out of the promo title) or internal merchandise requests.
blessingx Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Bump as I see these are still on sale for those who missed it earlier. Still some K2s and XRCDs listed.
aerius Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I suppose I could use a few more versions of Scheherazade and Dvorak's 9th...
