VPI Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Unless they announce the now retired Playboy models will be hosting, I have zero interest in this series. Can't stand that main host. 1
Hopstretch Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 I can actually see Matt/Joey doing pretty well in the self-deprecating Hammond role. Evans is a twat, though, and the reboot still has the muck sweat smell of desperation about it. 1
HeadphoneAddict Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 I think Matt is perfect for the job. Now, how do we get rid of Evans and his car sickness?
Leonardo Drummond Posted February 11, 2016 Report Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/top-gear/top-gear-presenters-confirmed/ Holy f*ck, I'm looking forward to this!!! Edited February 11, 2016 by Leonardo Drummond

Now, how do we get rid of Evans and his car sickness? Kind of difficult, since Evans has massive clout withe the BBC - and do or die he is the new face of TG. Will he last in the long term? No idea, but I'd guess he will be around for at least a year.

Hopstretch Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 I can only assume Netflix are trying their very best to get the series in the can before Clarkson gives birth? 4
Grahame Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 *COUGH* Amazon Prime *COUGH* That's no way to speak about the "Jezza Belly"

Grand Enigma Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 Still not sure how I feel about the casting of this. Just not seeing an exciting dynamic.
Craig Sawyers Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 The formula that worked with CMH was that of a highly polished and scripted sitcom about three non-politically-correct guys, who also had an interest in cars. I suspect that is what is going to happen over on Amazon Prime too, but with a budget to make your eyes water. Trailer for the new Top Gear is much more politically correct. Welcome to the latest PC BBC. It has a woman in it. And a Friends celebrity. And a Stig. And a guy who gets travel sick. Hmm; we'll see.

Grahame Posted May 30, 2016 Report Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) Meanwhile, the new Top Gear has aired, and ... The Guardian liveblogged it https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/live/2016/may/29/top-gear-chris-evans-and-matt-leblanc-launch-new-series-live The BBC's own review was quite scathing http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-36409946 Daily Mail Tells All http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3615398/And-episode-new-Gear-airs-Chris-Evans-racing-Matt-Le-Blanc-Union-Flag-covered-Robin-Reliant.html Telegraph has a roundup http://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2016/05/29/top-gear-live-chris-evans-and-matt-leblanc-host-revamped-bbc-pro/ Best comment I saw (to be read in a Clarkson delivery) The best advert for Amazon Prime. Ever. Ouch. Personally? The Cinematography was excellent, Chris Evans tried too hard with the enthusiasm, and coming out with the Clarkson Cliches. Matt was chill, but the scripted stuff was a bit too wooden and the chemistry isn't there yet. Jeff would have appreciated the Top Gun references. Sabine is the real deal (And She feels the need, the need for ...) (and I recognized the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro ...) Tough shoes to fill, and draws the unenviable comparison with the previous show, from a cold start .... I have to say I enjoyed the "Extra Gear" add on, with the presenters ( Rory Reid and Chris Harris) being much more relaxed and natural, and the short piece on Sabine's set up was interesting and informative ... We'll have to see how things develop ... Edited May 30, 2016 by Grahame
Craig Sawyers Posted May 30, 2016 Report Posted May 30, 2016 For a "first stab" I didn't think it was too awful. But it needs a lot of work to be as polished as the original. Let's see how it goes - the one we saw was filmed in January.
Grahame Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 (edited) Better 2nd time around.
