emelius Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 way it stands atm, Top Gear should be back the 27th...but they haven't announced past that...i'm pumped to have it back 'round the same time as Futurama...full of win...
Grahame Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 In the meantime, these seem strangely familiar ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO5j3epzeZs&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMJ9vGBavxE&feature=player_embedded
emelius Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 assuming you've all seen it by now... thought the volcano action'd be great as a supplement to the polar special... the reliant would've been fine if the steering wheel was on the correct side haha... definitely excited about the new reasonably priced car idea, but not the car itself... Bill Bailey's always a welcome addition & I 3>'d the Human League reference:)...
NightWoundsTime Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Yep, watched it last night. The Reliant segment was definitely a winner. Loved the huge map.
Grahame Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Cinematography in the Bentley segment was epic. Reliant Robin segment was prime grade A "cocking about" In fact the whole episode was
Edwood Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 While Fifth Gear has been more informative and varied with a focus on "reviewing" cars, Top Gear is my favorite specifically because they're cocking about. My wive loves Top Gear even.
Edwood Posted August 3, 2010 Author Report Posted August 3, 2010 So this "season" in only 6 episodes?! Yeesh. I guess they're really going to go out with a whimper than a bang. Next year will be 5 episodes, 4 episodes the next year after that, until there are none.
Duggeh Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 6 is the classic length of a series of a UK TV programme. I haven't yet seen all of this series of Top Gear, but if a 6 episode run means that they avoid descending into the gobshite bullshit overscripted overinflated farce of recent past, then good.
Grahame Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 I'm with Duggeh on the 6 episodes per series e.g. Fawlty Towers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Twelve episodes were produced (two series each of six episodes). Father Ted - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The first series comprised 6 episodes The IT Crowd - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and has run for four series of 6 episodes I heard it put down to the fact that the UK shows typically have the original author(s) as writer(s), whereas US shows employ teams of writers, with the end goal being syndication for multiple 13 episode series ....
Duggeh Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) Classic, to wit, "traditional". Since 1998 or 1999, the shift was to 8 epsiodes. Now there has been a shift to 10, 11, or 12. Depends on the show. Still uncommon to see a series length over 8 unless it's a flagship show. Each series of Red Dwarf was 6 eps, except 8. (And Back To Earth, which was piss). Thats 6 from 1987 to 1997 IIRC. And 8 for 1997-1999. If they were to another one now, no way it'd be more than 8. Edited August 4, 2010 by Duggeh

n_maher Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Top Gear guys were on 60 Minutes tonight...they were pretty good, but it was mainly clips from the show... Still pretty entertaining.
emelius Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 saw the promo for "Top Gear"...was hoping they'd call it Top Gear America or uh...anything else...it looks really lame...i'm not looking forward to having to explain that it isn't the real show...will probably have to start referring to the original as British Top Gear...blah...shouldn't be so pessimistic...but the promo's pretty bad...
NightWoundsTime Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 James May's Man Lab Truly shameful. It's James May rattling on for an hour about useless nonsense with no other presenters to stop him, or an editor to make him cut it. Either the gayest episode of Home Improvement ever, or it's that one episode where Mr Rogers went insane.
