catscratch Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 E05 was really good. More of a throwback to season 5/6 with the cheap car challenge but it was funny as hell and not too over the top. Solid classic TG.
NightWoundsTime Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 And Jeremy's eco-solution made me LOL.
That Dude Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 I LOVE to hate Morris Marinas! But by far, the season premiere was one of their weakest episodes... They should have started with episode 2 with the trance music and all...
Duggeh Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 The series, finally, has gotten into the swing of it. I was worried that I might not laugh at all or actually be interested, and frankly it has been forced and contrived until now. E4 was breaking back, E5 is properly back to form. I loved it.
NightWoundsTime Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 E4 would have been much better if they had all gotten in the car for the postal race. 4 door Porsche, so it makes sense, and I don't think they've ever done a trip like that before.
feckn_eejit Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 E4 would have been much better if they had all gotten in the car for the postal race. 4 door Porsche, so it makes sense, and I don't think they've ever done a trip like that before.Agreed... only one I can think of where the three of them all do a trip in a car is in the Caravan Holiday bit (S08E06)
deepak Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Ahh UK'ers and their wonderful caravan holidays
Hopstretch Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Obviously not Top Gear, but this does appear to be the default gearhead thread. Wordless beauty etc.
falkon Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 eh, cinematography in Climb Dance was much better.
emelius Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Schumi to replace the injured Massa!!... HOLY CRAP!... oh & BMW is pulling out of F1 after this season...
feckn_eejit Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 gah, talented as he is he's such a penis...
catscratch Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 E06 was good too. The show seems to be back into the swing of things. Still no real gems like E01/02 of last season or the Vietnam special but at least we have some very solid episodes.
falkon Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 as talented as he is, i'm not sure even he can get back into that kind of condition that quickly.
padam Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 To be honest, I thought the series was mediocre. But this last episode was really good.
Hopstretch Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 How come Captain Slow gets to have all the fun? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6cZLfK4Zjk
guzziguy Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Well for one reason, he can actually fit into the cockpit.
NightWoundsTime Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 The other reason is that he's done several science type documentaries for the BBC, so this was just a one-off special in the same vein. His Big Ideas series is worth a quick search.
IceClass Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Well for one reason, he can actually fit into the cockpit. If that were the sole criteria then the little hamster guy would have been sent although I'd have to agree with anyone who might suggest his history around jet engines isn't that reassuring.
catscratch Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Meh, James May = awesome and the more JM we see outside of Top Gear the better. He is becoming a fairly popular show host/presenter in general from what I've gathered.
Hopstretch Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 This matte black thing is taking off. Dusty, trend setter.
manaox2 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I think I might see a hint of a back windshield. Lotus is still one of the coolest looking cars I've seen, used to have a electric RC one in college that they would race.
Dusty Chalk Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I believe the reasoning goes thusly: when you're going faster than anything else, you don't need to see behind you.
n_maher Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 All this inappropriate bumping of the Top Gear thread is killing me. I keep thinking the show is back on, bastards. I do approve of the Lotus though.
