John E Woven Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 The first episode wasn't bad, but I'd have liked to see the lotus go around the track. Quote
deepak Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Judging by what we saw in the teaser preview at the start of this episode, this season is going to rock. The whole Stig is Schumacher thing was pretty lame though \ Quote
falkon Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 I wonder if they'll start introducing every guest as the Stig. Quote
kelvinz Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 watched the new episode last night, I really wish it was available in HD! I also wondered about the health of those train operators, I would assume the coal isn't particularly good for their lungs. Quote
spritzer Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 I also wondered about the health of those train operators, I would assume the coal isn't particularly good for their lungs. If you think that's bad, how do you think being down in the mines all day is/was. It was a good show though... Quote
n_maher Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 really lovely, i would imagine, what with the dankness and mold. better than Ohio, anyway. Quote
penger Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 It's back?!? Awesome. I had resorted to watched some Fifth Gear in their absence. Quote
spritzer Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 I had resorted to watched some Fifth Gear in their absence. The horror!!!! Quote
emelius Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 jazz hands!... did you try Top Gear Australia?... Quote
falkon Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Top Gear Australia is absolutely terrible. Quote
emelius Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 but not as bad as the planned American version with adam carolla... the Polar Special is available in 1080p...the one where they got in trouble for drinking & driving... Quote
kelvinz Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 we were joking about this throughout the episode eh heh eh heh I got the black lung pop Quote

I was just surprised because I was under the impression that the British government was very strict about workplace health policies. Quote
Beefy Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Top Gear Australia is absolutely terrible. I saw two episodes of the second season before I left Australia, and it was a LOT better than the first season - though still inferior to the original obviously. The problem with the first season was that they said to the new hosts, you can play Clarkson, you can play Hammond, and you can play May. In the second season, James Morrison is a BIG improvement, and the other two are allowed to be themselves a bit more. Quote
falkon Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 In the second season, James Morrison is a BIG improvement, and the other two are allowed to be themselves a bit more. Yeah, I thought they were just trying too hard to be like the original and not succeeding. Quote
catscratch Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 I really like Top Gear but I hate their attitude. The whole chauvinist Britain > * attitude and the idea that everyone else can settle for second-grade content. They can go fuck themselves. If you don't want everyone else to watch your show don't show it to them, but don't give people scraps like they were dogs while you sit and eat your five-course meal. Also youtube is what gave them their popularity in the first place and their constant crusade against youtube'd content is ridiculous. I always pay for shows and music that I like but they're not getting a cent from me as long as they keep treating me like a second-rate viewer. I thought the whole Schumaker thing was pretty lame too. They've been milking the whole Stig identity thing on the web site for years and now that the show is running out of ideas they're probably going to start doing it every episode on the show too. But the rest of the episode was pretty good IMO. Quote

Every network both American and British are vigilant about having their content removed from Youtube. I see Europeans and Canadians complaining all the time because they can't access Hulu or watch dailyshow clips because of their IP's location. Quote
Edwood Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 The Vietnam special "Holiday" from last season is going to be tough to top. Quote
en480c4 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 The Vietnam episode was a bit of a let-down for me. It was a bit of a chore to get through and has none of the re-watchability that many of the others do. I'll often show the specials to various friends and end up watching them 3 or4 times. Definitely not the case with the Vietnam special. It didn't hold a canlde to the Polar special, the SE US trip or the trans-African trip, which was probably my favorite. Oliver FTW! Quote

Grahame Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 wow, someone is a drama queen. and youtube is sure as hell not what made the show popular. *cough* http://www.finalgear.com/ *cough* check out the forums for the "1001 uses for" threads Quote
falkon Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 The Vietnam special wasn't exactly a let down but it won't be exactly difficult to top either. Now the north pole special.. THAT will be difficult to top. -Sir Ranulph falkon Quote
