Hopstretch Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Actually it does sync with Google Calendars straight out of the box. Read and write?
tkam Posted June 17, 2009 Author Report Posted June 17, 2009 What's the sound quality? Haven't tried out the headphone jack yet. Read and write? Yep, read and write.
justin Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 i assume theres no way to get a line out from it?
shellylh Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Thanks for the info on the Pre, especially about the non-sluggishness. I am on a waiting list to get one (hopefully this weekend). I tried one out in the Sprint store and was not very impressed but I figure that this was become of some "demo" mode that they may have had it on.
MexicanDragon Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 I don't know how I missed this thread. I haven't spent time with a live one yet, just the dummy from the Best Buy Mobile, but I LOVE the size of the phone. The iPhone and the G1 seem a little too tall (though both have big roomy screens). The Pre in closed position just fits the hand SO well. Kind of like with my BB 8900, the screen is a bit smaller, but it has the same or similar resolution as the iPhone/Storm/G1, so it should just be great in that respect. I'm in agreement that it's going to take more marketshare away from RIM than it will Apple, though IRL, I see quite a few more people with BBs out than iPhones. I kinda wonder if this is how it may end up with Android phones as well, having a variety of devices/form factors on one platform suiting multiple needs. It'll be interesting to see what WebOS does with the reinvention of Palm, however. This summer, with multiple flagship WM phones, new Android phones, 2H BB devices and that other little phone that came out today all on top of the Pre, the smartphone arena is just flooded with top tier competition. I love it. **BRENT**
tkam Posted June 22, 2009 Author Report Posted June 22, 2009 I've come to really appreciate the way the Pre handles notifications, it's not intrusive at all and contains all the information you need to decide if its something you want to check out right away or ignore.
tkam Posted July 15, 2009 Author Report Posted July 15, 2009 or just keep using Sync, Play & Send to BlackBerry, PSP, iPod, iPhone with doubleTwist
aardvark baguette Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Any Palm Pre owners out there who've also had an iphone at one time? I'm strongly considering the Pre, but I'd really like to have better voice quality than the iphone.
tkam Posted July 15, 2009 Author Report Posted July 15, 2009 I did, though I can't really say I had any complaints about voice quality.
tkam Posted July 24, 2009 Author Report Posted July 24, 2009 Looks like iTunes sync is working again with the webOS 1.1 update.
Hopstretch Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Looks like iTunes sync is working again with the webOS 1.1 update. Pretty blatant eye-poking for the corporate arena. I guess Palm at this point doesn't really have much to lose. If the Pre isn't a big hit, they're toast.
tkam Posted July 24, 2009 Author Report Posted July 24, 2009 So just finished downloading/installing webOS 1.1. Few things to point out, Exchange support is now complete which is good news for enterprise users. Overall things do seem a little snappier so I think they did some optimization to the UI code. The biggest app/feature addition in my opinion is the NFL Mobile App.
tkam Posted August 7, 2009 Author Report Posted August 7, 2009 Anyone else who has a Pre I highly recommend trying out the MyTether app, it's one of the best tethering apps I've ever used on any phone. It can tether via usb, bluetooth or wifi (ad-hoc).

shellylh Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 I am at the airport using my Palm Pre and mytether to use as a "wireless router" to get internet access on my Macbook Pro (actually I am on the plane waiting for boarding to complete). It works really great and has a pretty fast download speed.
tkam Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 as previously announced flash for Pre coming soon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpI6gA9cuME
n_maher Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 It's a bummer that recent rumors seem to indicate that the Pre will not becoming to Verizon in January.
tkam Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 The only serious possible hold-up could be Verizon's instance on using it's own appstore, or some version of the pre's store that verizon has total control over. Still plenty of time before January to get that all sorted out though
penger Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Here's to hoping it comes to AT&T as well... they seem to be slow to adopt anything these days.
grawk Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Is the pre available on GSM anywhere in the world?
tkam Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 GSM version is coming to germany, uk and ireland via O2 in a week or so.
grawk Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Then the gsm version will be available on AT&T to anyone willing to spend the money within a week of that
tkam Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 yep pretty much, though i'm sure att will be getting their version of it sometime in the 1st half of next year anyways.
