n_maher Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Mobile Me -> iCloud ? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/04/29/apple_using_icloud_internally_says_report/ That's pretty much been the prevailing rumor for a while now, it'll be interesting to see how they limit user's access to music and other "protected" content, if at all.
blessingx Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 For those waiting for Thunderbolt... Rumor: Apple to release new iMacs on Tuesday, May 3 http://j.mp/iUEBdU

aardvark baguette Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Man fuck this thread. Every time I catch up with it I find myself making further plans to spend money I don't have. Salt Peanuts Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Fuck. I'm half tempted to cancel my MBP order and get a new iMac - too bad I need/want the portability of MBP.
Torpedo Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 New iMacs with thunderbolt Wow, this went fast. I guess they'll be available here in a few days/weeks
Augsburger Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 iMac + iPad. I hate your face. Another new reason to visit the cursed Apple store. Now I will need to buy three external HDs and three 16g thumbdrives..........plus two cases of newly released Cardinale, I hate this thread.
The Monkey Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 you don't need three external HDs, you need a RAID box filled with 2 TB hard drives. This is my next project, I think.
Sherwood Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 New iMacs are very nice. Two (count 'em two) thunderbolt ports, which seems downright silly, and all sorts of quad cores. Plus, 27" screens are a thing to behold. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't do something along the lines of a large "retina display", however.
grawk Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I think there's some pretty serious misunderstanding about what a retina display is, and how big a cost it'd be to double the 27" imac's resolution in both directions would be...
morphsci Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 But they have unicorn dust and we want everything yesterday!
grawk Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 it's easier to find 3.6" diagonal worth of pixie dust than 27" It's hard to find pixies that big in order to get a flawless 27" long piece of pixie dust.
The Monkey Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I think the iPhone retina display is pretty awesome.
Aura Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) I think the iPhone retina display is pretty awesome. 'Aye. It was the main reason I wanted to switch to the 4 over my 3GS. Successfully resisted that one. Edited May 4, 2011 by Aura
Dusty Chalk Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 How about just moar resolution, without necessarily going all the way to "retina-ish" display.
grawk Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 The imac won't be where they introduce a revolutionary display. It'll either be in the macbook pro or in the cinema display. The imac is a consumer device, and as such, will be targetting 1080p resolutions, and whatever video standard is introduced later. As it is, most people wouldn't make use of the resolution already available on the 27" imac. It's a darn nice display, especially given the pricepoint of the imac. I want a thunderbolt equipped macbook air 11" with a 21" imac at some point, tho...
