Eric5676 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Sounds good. I'll probably get laughed at for this but here goes: Does Apple ever do any promos, sales, coupons, things of that nature? Maybe I see something around Black Friday that turns my head? Etc. ?

Find sales on Macs, new and refurbished Apple systems. Nice! And now I have to ask this: I've looked around a bit and shy of DIY options, this Mac Mini seems like a fairly unique product in the market. The only other thing I've seen like it off the top of my head was the Dell Zino, which gets a lot of mixed feedback. Am I seeing that right?
tyrion Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 If you mean it's a computer with a small footprint and the Zino is the only other one out there with a similar footprint then I think you are seeing this right.
Grahame Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 You mean take the innards from a laptop, package them in a small form factor case, and charge a premium for them, then yes
morphsci Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 If you mean a small form factor computer that just works, then you are wrong because the Dell does not fit that description.
Eric5676 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 You mean take the innards from a laptop, package them in a small form factor case, and charge a premium for them, then yes ^^ I chuckled. If you mean a small form factor computer that just works, then you are wrong because the Dell does not fit that description. Zino definitely has a mixed track record. I wouldn't get it myself.
jvlgato Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 If I do it this is what I'd be doing it for myself. An Ipod touch I take it? All Apple? Yes, iPod Touch. There's an app that makes it easily control iTunes on a Mac via wifi. Is it just called Remote? I think there's a couple of options there. There's several people here that use it that way, I'm sure they can help.
morphsci Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 You can control it with the remote app or go all out and use one of the VNC apps like iteleport. The VNC app is kind of overkill unless you already have it for other purposes. They haven't updated the remote app since it was released but it works fine.
luvdunhill Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Zino definitely has a mixed track record. I wouldn't get it myself. perhaps a Zotac ZBOX / MAG?
Eric5676 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 perhaps a Zotac ZBOX / MAG? Hadn't paid close attention to those. Compelling.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Didn't MSI used to have a small desktop, too? I know HP did, but it was high-end, so the price was not comparable. Yeah, MSI Nettop, Windbox, and others. HP was the Firebird. But I don't think any of those are still on the market, per se (I.E. anything but old stock being sold).

There's some of those and then there's this: fit-PC2 <- That's unbelievable! I don't want to derail a Mac thread obviously but it's pretty clear to me at least there's a lot of options out there to do what I might want to do here at some point.
Salt Peanuts Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Speaking of small footprint computers, I've always wanted one of these for some reason. A friend of ours has one and is still using it.
HeadphoneAddict Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Wasn't sure if this belongs in the iPhone thread or Mac thread, heh.
DefectiveAudioComponent Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 A Mac CD shredder? My daugther shreds all my CDs so I wouldn't have much use for it. But it looks cool, with that big waste basket to collect the pieces. Speaking of small footprint computers, I've always wanted one of these for some reason. A friend of ours has one and is still using it.

I have just compared Steve Jobs to Abraham Lincoln. I still have a NeXT T-Shirt from 1988 that I got at a show where Steve Jobs came to demonstrate his new computers in Houston. I've never worn it, but simply saved it as a souvenir.
episiarch Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Daniel fucking Craigqvist spotting buying Apple stuffs in Stockholm. (There are no Apple Stores there, must have been an Apple Premium Reseller.) No point to this post except I felt compelled to type "Daniel fucking Craigqvist."
episiarch Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 My guess was a camera card adaptor but honestly I have no effing idea.
The Monkey Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I just downloaded the demo of tagalicious and so far it seems like a nice little app. Maybe a little rough around the edges, but could be useful. Tagalicious - Automatically Clean Up and Tag Your Songs
Salt Peanuts Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 ^ I remember the days of needing to manually tag songs. I hated doing that.
