Dusty Chalk Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 To me, it's all about real estate. 13" == 1280x800 15" == 1440x900 ~= 27% more real estate, so I would throw that in your oven bag and shake it. Me, personally, I intend to get two -- one of the tiny Sony Vaio Lifestylers with the 1600x768 8" screen, and a huge HP dv8t with the full 1080p 18" screen.
matt fury Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 I gotta say, I went from a 15" Powerbook to a 13" Macbook and I thought that the 13" form factor was the tits. But then a few years ago my boss bought me a 17", and while yes, it is a pain in the ass to carry, I really got hooked on the whole "having a no compromise machine" everywhere I went. I'd say it depends on how you lug it around. Going around town for me, it wasn't bad, because you can drive anywhere in Vegas. It was only really annoying when travelling via plane.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 That's a little too much information.
n_maher Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 A relative in my office offered one of his Snow Leopard licenses to me (he bought the family pack), I assume there will be no issues installing this on my Macbook right?
Hopstretch Posted December 29, 2009 Author Report Posted December 29, 2009 A relative in my office offered one of his Snow Leopard licenses to me (he bought the family pack), I assume there will be no issues installing this on my Macbook right? No, you won't have any problem.
grawk Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Apple doesn't actually keep track of operating system licenses in any way.
n_maher Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Apple doesn't actually keep track of operating system licenses in any way. Ok and thanks, I'll have a go tonight.
bperboy Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Ok and thanks, I'll have a go tonight. One relatively major bug I've been having with 10.6.2 is the inability to write file directories to FAT-formatted flash drives. It's fairly well documented in the Apple forums, and if it's not fixed in 10.6.3, I'll be pretty pissed at Apple.
n_maher Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 I installed it today and have a flash drive with me, I'll see if I have the bug too.
The Monkey Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 It's fairly well documented in the Apple forums, and if it's not fixed in 10.6.3, I'll be pretty pissed at Apple. Uh-oh, watchit Jobsy. bperboy gonna open up a can of whupass.
n_maher Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Other than the write speed seeming a bit slow it wrote to my FAT32 formatted flash drive just fine. And I double checked and I'm running 10.6.2.
Voltron Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Uh-oh, watchit Jobsy. bperboy gonna open up a can of whupass. And if he's put on the traditional "freshman 15" since I last saw him, then he must be up to 95 pounds by now!
