Nanoha Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Yes, it installs an audio device called soundflower that allows the audio to be captured while the selected area on the screen is also captured as video. Soundflower is available for free by itself so archos might be able to try using Quicktime screen recording with Soundflower first to see how it is. (Soundflower basically lets you route your audio out to your audio in) http://cycling74.com/soundflower-landing-page/products/soundflower/ Open source page at Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/soundflower/ Edited February 8, 2013 by Nanoha
The Monkey Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 My 27" iMac will not recognize more than 16GB RAM, even if all 4 slots are filled. I have 32GB from Crucial and it will only report back 16GB and the other 2 slots empty. However, I have tested each slot with a single chip and they each seem to work. I have ordered another 16GB kit from Crucial, hoping that I got a bad batch, but I don't like these symptoms.
n_maher Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 We'll see if I care enough to call. Last time I tried to do something like this is severely effed up my acount and almost cost me all the apps that I'd previously bought. I've read stories of similar things happening with this iCloud BS so I'm not sure it's worth the risk. So, my ipad updated tonight and in so doing basically forced me into calling apple to try to resolve my ID issues. After a maddening half hour on the phone I'm fucked. My primary email address is associated with another apple ID. My secondary email address is associated with another apple ID. So their solution is for me to create a new email address to use as my apple ID. What the fuck? I asked if they could delete the account that uses my email address that I haven't used since I pitched my iphone 3 years ago. No, no one, not even apple can delete an apple id or even sever the relationship between an email address and an account. What a bunch of fucking useless people. So I think I'll sell the ipad. 1
recstar24 Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Nate, I can't think of another person that has had more bad luck with apple than you. Apple owes you stock in the company for shitting on you for so many years now. Sorry bro.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Yeah, as much as I like my Apple things, the whole Apple ID issue is maddening. I think I have 4 Apple IDs, only two of which are in use now. I even have @Mac.com account out there in ether.
morphsci Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Yep, the whole Apple ID thing is just so full of illogically conceived processes, rules and procedures that I was sure it was created by Microsoft.
archosman Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Yes, it installs an audio device called soundflower that allows the audio to be captured while the selected area on the screen is also captured as video. Well it ended up being downloadable files... but I'm going to investigate this program further. Thanks!
Torpedo Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Not really a specific Mac question, but it's related to two Mac systems. Would the two 4GB RAM chips --DDR3 204 pins 1600MHz that come in a current production iMac-- work without any health risks into a 2010 MacBook Pro which uses DDR3 204 pins but 1066MHz memory? I think it's possible it worked, after all we'd be using a higher clock speed memory into a lower speed bus mobo, but I'm not sure it could cause any harm just trying it.
blessingx Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Apple releases updates to MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, lowers starting price http://www.tuaw.com/2013/02/13/apple-releases-updates-to-macbook-pro-macbook-air/

Here's the question: Do I call AppleCare or do I bring in the machine to a store? This one has the giant SSD in it so it isn't the kind of thing that they can generally just swap out.
The Monkey Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 And now they fucking drop the price and bump the specs of the 13" rMBP. Can I return mine and exchange it?
grawk Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 is it within your 14 days? did you buy it with an amex?
The Monkey Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 No and No. But I did just speak to the store and they'll let me do an exchange. Probably need to get there today. What's an easy and quick way to wipe the HD to return my current unit? I don't have anything that needs to be backed up.

TMoney Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 A worthy choice, Monkey. I bought mine the 24th of January so I don't think I'm eligible to trade back in. Bummer.
Nebby Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Maybe now I'll just get the 15". It's tempting, isn't it
The Monkey Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 A worthy choice, Monkey. I bought mine the 24th of January so I don't think I'm eligible to trade back in. Bummer. I've heard stories that you can maybe get a refund or credit instead of a trade in if you make a stink.
TMoney Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 I've heard stories that you can maybe get a refund or credit instead of a trade in if you make a stink. Who did you call? Your local store or the national number? Might as well give it a shot and see what happens
The Monkey Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 I spoke to the Grand Central Store where I bought it. The guy was nice, but not the most knowledgeable, so we'll see how it goes. I'm wondering if it's even worth the psychic pain.
blessingx Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Bound to make a good story either way. Head to the possible gain/pain.
