jantze Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Pre-orders should be banned by the law. It's just easy money in to further develop your product/business without any risk (except reputation).
Salt Peanuts Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 I'm still not understanding why you couldn't get a refund. You don't have a product in hand and I am sure most state consumer law backs you up in this scenario. IIRC from the time I needed to get money back from Mikhail, it's well past the amount time that is allowed by FTC to have the item delivered, i.e., Ric should be entitled to his refund.

crappyjones123 Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 (edited) i dont know if this is going to help matters or make them worse. just going to provide facts. purchased jh16s last year (thanks mike and fitz for your help - not sure if i ever thanked you before). purchased the wax removal tool a few weeks later. never came. sent 3-4 emails about the 3 dollar thing. never got a reply back. said fuck it. wax got really bad. sent another 2 emails. said they were going to send it out but never did. sent them in on thursday to get cleaned. was quoted $50 and had to pay for return shipping as well. i agreed. a very very good looking ups lady just rang the door bell and handed me a package which was sent out by jh audio. opened it, to find the jh16s in new condition with a pair of cleaning tools and a new cable (i had requested them to check why the sound was cutting in and out of the left earpiece) none of which i was charged for. a very nice email to jaime and the rest of the jh audio crew is in the works. listening to them as i type this and i cant say i have been happier listening to music. lots of new music was acquired during the period of non use which probably ran the better part of the summer and as much as i love the crack and 650 combo, the micro details that the jh16s so effortlessly pry out make it a whole different experience. i guess i threw in a few things besides the facts jh audio is back up to baller status. *jams out to the turtle island string quartet* JUMP FUCK YOUR MOTHER the violin sounds amazing. blessingx Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Cool Crappy. Glad it worked out (except for possibly with the UPS lady). Jerry had last week sent an email update (they are reportedly no longer using FB for 3A status changes), which included... "We are making new boards and I will have a date of completion on Monday." I took that as meaning we'd have new info two days ago. After nothing sent I called JHA. That wasn't their interpretation and they expected to give no new updates this week. Frustrated and confused again, I took a new approach which to cut to the chase involved several emails and calls today, an offer to even take a reduced refund for any work completed (though asked that money I've spent on accessories be taken into account), and as backup opened a claim with MasterCard. Not sure which of the first steps had an affect (the last didn't have time to), however received an email the refund had been processed. Honestly, was giddy to be done with this. Hoping between the refund and Crappys experience customer service is turning around at JHA.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Do you think they hired the particularly good-looking UPS lady to sort of "manage expectations"?
HeadphoneAddict Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Do you think they hired the particularly good-looking UPS lady to sort of "manage expectations"? These girls? Or this one?
Dreadhead Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Having to open a claim should not have been required.... I'm glad things worked out for crappy (well sort of as it did cost $50)
jp11801 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 I don't think the claim spurred them into action (I guess Ric could confirm this). Sucks you had to ask multiple times though. They really need a professional service and sales manager to run the office (IMHO) for the consumer side. I'd charge $50 for tech time to clean gobs of ear wax out of an IEM when a tool for the user to do this was provided.
grawk Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Except it wasn't for Crappy, and he repeatedly tried to buy the tool from them, and they never would sell him one.
jp11801 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Aahh! I've gotten one both times and after repairs? Sorry to hear about this then but glad to see Mr Jones back up and running
blessingx Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 I don't think the claim spurred them into action (I guess Ric could confirm this). Sucks you had to ask multiple times though. They really need a professional service and sales manager to run the office (IMHO) for the consumer side. Very little chance the claim was the motivator. It was only a couple hours and while opened, I still hadn't completed all background submissions. Highly doubt they were contacted. Much more likely they had a change of heart, one of the JHA trilogy was newly aware (Brittany?), coincidental pressure from elsewhere, I became too much trouble, one of the two responses was a mistake or hit on right/wrong day, or release is now much further out than is seemed a couple weeks ago, etc. Who knows? As mysteriously resolved as the problems created.
shellylh Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 That is great news Ric (same for Crappy)!
crappyjones123 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 just for the sake of clarification, i think salty mentioned a while back that the cleaning tool came included with the initial purchase. i never got one then and then paid for one later but never got that either even after a few emails. i was told over the phone that i would be charged for the cleaning and the new cable if needed but was not for either. wasnt charged for return shipping either which i was also told i had to pay.
Augsburger Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Glad things ultimately worked out for the two of you.
MexicanDragon Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 From FB: 15% off through Tuesday morning at 9am eastern all except JH5 and JH3A with code AMERICA. **BRENT**
blessingx Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Wow, oh wow. So glad I got out from under this rock. Here is the latest update on the JH3A… Due to a 6 year-pending patent application that was filed during Jerry's ownership of Ultimate Ears and finally granted this past January, we have changed the format of the 3A Amplifier. This has cost the project an intense amount of time and for that we apologize. Please see below for the changes that have been made:We have removed the active crossover from the amp and put it back into the earpiece. This change allows the earpieces to be used without being married to the amp. We have had many customers request this flexibility and we are happy to be able to offer it.(An 8-Pin to 3.5 mm male mini adapter is required. With the adaptor, the JH16 may be used as a normal passive crossover earpiece and can be plugged into any source a typical JH16 would. There is no impact to the audio quality for either application. We will offer the adaptor, with the price being determined next week.) The 3A still has 3 internal amps (low, mid and high) driving the passive crossover components in the earpiece. This allows us to EQ and delay each amp for the particular component in order to correct EQ and phase.[*]The 3A can run in either 2 amp mode (mids and highs) or 3 amp mode (lows, mids and highs) by switching between the B/M switch. [*]In 2-way mode, the low end response is perfectly flat. In 3-way mode the bass response is +3db to +14db depending on the bass amp volume control setting. [*]Amp stage is totally silent [*]The analog input has been increased so the gain is closer to gain of the the digital input. We feel the changes that had to be made have improved the JH3A and we think that you as the consumer you will be pleased with its improved versatility. We appreciate everyone that has held on while this product has been in the development stage and we apologize for the long delay in this reaching you, the early believers in the project. The design of the JH3A is complete and it is an amazing product. We will be showing the completed JH3A this week at RMAF and look forward to everyones feedback. JH3A amps will start to ship the week after RMAF as soon as Jerry returns to the lab. Thank you, JHAudio Edited October 11, 2011 by blessingx
justin Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 confused...i thought the 3A was already shipping?
Salt Peanuts Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 confused...i thought the 3A was already shipping? This. Also, I wonder what they're planing on telling those folks who already has a JH3A (or whatever it is as it appears they've changed the amp design yet again).
Dreadhead Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Hmmmm. Odd choice but ok I guess Edited October 11, 2011 by Dreadhead
blessingx Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 24/192 20 hours battery life Flashable memory Active crossovers
recstar24 Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 So are the crossovers in the earpieces, or in the adaptor? Also, I could have swore that the whole sonic draw to the amp was that it would be using active crossovers.
