Augsburger Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Late to the thread but congrats Ric and hoping they sound better and better.
MexicanDragon Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 From FB: Here is where we are on the 3A – from Jerry. 1. We are in the process of changing the spidf to coax. This is a bigger project than we had originally anticipated and is requiring a board revision. We are doing quick turn boards to test the spidf currently. 2. The MCU issue has been addressed and on Monday I will be in the lab with the amp at the ear simulator to verify the change. After the board approval, and once the connectors arrive to the manufacturer, it will take about a week until the units ship to us. We will keep you updated on the status as we have more information. Best regards, Everyone at JHA
Voltron Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 I hope the end product at least resembles the canjam version. Of course I didn't hear it, but i feel for those who bought based on it.
Edwood Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Well, it was originally supposed to have SPDIF Coax, via a 4 pole 3.5mm jack. Hopefully they meant a dedicated SPDIF jack. Hope it keeps the USB DAC function as well, although I doubt it will be anything fancy like 24/96 asynchronous. But one could hope.
jp11801 Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 I am fairly certain that the spdif and the analog in share the same jack and there was never any mention of asynch so I doubt it. From what I understand and I could be wrong this should make it to our hands in April sometime, with Vicki and I being in the same batch as I'm #4 I believe (was 7 or 8 but moved down due to cancellations and Vicki I think you are ahead of me. It really doesn't matter as I'm sure they will ship in batches of 20 or more once the 3a is complete.
blessingx Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Just out of curiosity, John and Vicki are you on the email update list that at least a few on HF are? I'm not, and haven't received a response to last couple emails (the new impressions and JH16s). Not sure how much to make of the silence.
boomana Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 I just got my first email ever from them yesterday with the same thing Brent posted. EDIT: email regarding 3A. I've received emails re other things before.
elnero Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Just out of curiosity, John and Vicki are you on the email update list that at least a few on HF are? I'm not, and haven't received a response to last couple emails (the new impressions and JH16s). Not sure how much to make of the silence. Who are you sending them to? I found the best way to ensure a reply was to send to multiple recipients. I noticed Adam was CC'ing others on our emails so I started using reply to all and aside from my last email all the others were replied to in relatively short order.
blessingx Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) Depends on issue and last email exchange. Usually B/J. Asked about list today and heard back that they had misspelled my email. Edited March 19, 2011 by blessingx
recstar24 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Have you guys received a recent update? Website says "delayed winter 2011". Not sure if that means for new orders, and that they want to take care of the early adopters first.
The Monkey Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Wow, winter 2011? How could this project get that badly messed up?
recstar24 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 No Facebook update, here's hoping it's a typo or that they will cover the current preorders. Ultimately I think it will be a superior product to what was heard at can jam, as the DSP was nowhere near where I believe it ultimately will be. I am sure the active crossover once tuned to your specific custom set will also take it up a notch, versus whatever they had it set at for the generic universal versions at can jam. Bt if it is indeed winter 2011 that is a tough pill.
recstar24 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Wow, winter 2011? How could this project get that badly messed up? Not quite apples to apples but the new duke nukem comes to mind. Brian wilson's smile could be considered another extreme example. I am sure there are more obvious examples.
Grahame Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Wow, winter 2011? How could this project get that badly messed up? (and so is embedded DSP development) Not quite apples to apples but the new duke nukem comes to mind. Brian wilson's smile could be considered another extreme example. I am sure there are more obvious examples. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Democracy ?
recstar24 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Nice. I personally am still waiting on the my bloody valentine loveless remasters which have appeared to have been delayed over and over and are in the perpetual preorder status on amazon.
jp11801 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Unless something radically changed since the last email from Jamie Harvey it's should be in my hands by late April. They have the amps fixed the spdif issue and am working on a last bit of the flash programming.
Iron_Dreamer Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 I would think that the "winter" reference is an old one, meaning the 1st quarter of this year, not the 4th. I'd be shocked to see it pushed to the end of the year, as it seems like things were on a roll.
recstar24 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 It does say winter 2011 but again lets hope that is a typo or for new orders.
guzziguy Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Didn't winter of 2011 end just last week?
recstar24 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Or winter 2011 starts november/december, which is what I was getting at...
