recstar24 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Sorry...freaking iPhone. I missed the A and K
Salt Peanuts Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I have to send mine back for the third time. This time a piece of plastic broke off one earpiece and the the sound keeps cutting out due to a problem with the connection between the cable and the earpiece. I can get it to work but certain movements cause it to cut out. It's not like I am abusing them. I use them mostly when I walk the dogs and sitting around the house. That sucks, Mike. Your post makes me wonder about the long term durability on these things. I guess I'll eventually find out myself.
HeadphoneAddict Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Sorry...freaking iPhone. I missed the A and K I think it's strange that I was the only one who knew what you meant to type.
morphsci Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I think it's strange that I was the only one who posted what you meant to type. FTFY
tyrion Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 That sucks, Mike. Your post makes me wonder about the long term durability on these things. I guess I'll eventually find out myself. On the possible good side, I am not aware of anyone else having similar issues. It seems to me if these are meant to be used by rock stars on almost nightly basis during a tour, I would think they would be more durable. I would say that maybe I got a bad set but they must have been redone the two times they went back due to the drivers coming loose. I will call tomorrow but this is getting old.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Actually, as can be seen in my post, I did understand what he meant to type, I just couldn't grasp the extent of the typo -- it was assumptuous of me to ask for a one-for-one correspondence on the number of letters, I realize that now in hindsight.Sled brought to you courtesy of iPhone.I lollered.
recstar24 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Actually thank you dusty for not making feel totally like a tool, and for not making me feel too bad about overly trusting the iphone OS spell correction.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Yeah, sorry, way too much interest in one word...sometimes I need to filter my mouth.

That sucks Mike,I know how bummed you where when you had problems at the NY meet. I would request complete new earpieces instead of repairing yours.
tyrion Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Tom, that was the second time I've had the problem with the wires breaking in the earpieces I've assumed that when they repair broken wires on the drivers they had to redo my earpieces. I'm hoping to send them back tomorrow. Both of us being in Florida, they will have them the next day but who knows when I will get them back.
The Monkey Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Mike, your pair is haunted. I think you need to ask them to rebuild from ground up if possible. Seriously. As for the 30-day policy, in my experience, it is very flexible. Contact Jaime and it should be ok.
Augsburger Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I'm figuring "asked", but have no idea how you got to one from the other, so am thinking maybe you meant something else entirely. You should have sled me, I could have 'splained it to ya.
forbigger Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 anyone here tried jh13 with glite and pico dac? Me try and me like long timeeeeeee..........
shellylh Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Note the G-lite but I've used them with a Pico DAC and GS-1 and the combination is full of goodness.
blessingx Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Good to hear. Although I've had the GS-1 and JH13 for awhile, never actually in my possession at the same time... until about two hours ago. Will try tonight. Quick turnaround on the JHA adjustments.
blessingx Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Damn. As I mentioned above, I held back for a while on sending the JH13s for modification as I worried about overcompensation. Guess what happened? Left side now painfully large. Goes back Monday. Hopefully can find a spot between orig and now. If so I think that should be perfect. Kudos to JHA for fixing, but does kinda suck going back and forth repeatedly.
tyrion Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Mine came back a week to the day. The must have re-cased both as the fit is a bit more snug then before, which is an improvement over the last pair. Now I just wait for my super duper cable from whiplash, which should be here in a couple of days.
screaming oranges Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 this thread has really convinced me to never get custom earphones. X2
Voltron Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Of course, you can just buy them and enjoy them without all the tweaking, which is what I have done.
tyrion Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I think those of us who have posted issues are the exception, not the rule. Despite the problems I've had, and I suspect I've sent mine back more than most, I would buy them again in a heart beat.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Remember all the trouble that guy had with his Audio Aero Capitole? Was that worth it?
Salt Peanuts Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) Need for re-fit appears to be high, though, at least by looking at the threads/posts. I don't remember seeing so many posts about re-fits with other customs (UE, Sensaphonic, Westone) over on HF or here. I know most of us have had to send them back in for a re-fit (or two, or three....) and my re-fit process wasn't without minor annoyance. Edited August 31, 2010 by Salt Peanuts
HeadphoneAddict Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I had to do a refit with Livewires (2x), SE530 customs, Freq Show, UE11Pro and JH13Pro (2x). My Westone UM56, ES3X, and ES5 each fit perfectly the first time around.
